Is it really easy to park hop?

We have park hoppers and will be at Disneyland for the first time in November. My husband likes his cocktails and I wonder if it is doable to pop over to DCA if we are near that area for him to get a drink and be back quickly or does he have to go through security etc?

No security to park hop just going through the other parks gates. look at the map you can see how close they are. You exit one park and the other is right there

You can walk from one park to the other in two minutes max, most likely faster.

Yes, it's stupid easy to park hop at DLR and once you get past security and into the esplanade, the two parks' gates are directly across from each other, so no going through security again. Take a look on google maps to see just how close they are to each other.

As others have said, it's very easy to park hop. The ticket gates between DL and DCA are about 110 yards apart; you can see the gates of one park from the other park. You do not have to go through security when hopping. All that being said, the time it takes can range from a few minutes (however long it takes you to walk across the Esplanade) to much longer (it depends on how long the lines are at the ticket gates - I've been there when the DL lines were about 3/4ths of the way across the Esplanade and that took a while to get through!).

So then you just have to show your ticket to get in? Any lines for that ever?

At both ticket gates, guests need to have their ticket scanned. So make sure your husband has his ticket and that it is a park hopper ticket. There can be lines to scan the ticket to enter the park; they can be anything from almost non-existent to very long. It varies throughout the day.

I'm not sure the closest place to get an adult drink in DCA, so once you get in the park you might want to have a plan for where you go to get the drink. Because that adds walking time and line time. But yeah seriously the parks are crazy close it's not even an issue with that.

We started in DL Sunday, went to CA for 2 rides, then back to DL for two and then finished in CA. That would probably be really inefficient with FP, but with MP it works out.

The closest grab and go for beer is Smokejumpers Grill.

The closest grab and go wine is at Mendocino Terrace.

The closest grab and go cocktails are in Hollywood Land back near Monster's Inc.

The closest sit down and order lounge is Carthay Circle.

I treat DL and CA like one big park really. It is very easy to move between them, and you can use Maxpass to get FastPasses for either park at the same time. It's so convenient!
Does this mean I can use maxpass to get a fastpass in DL and then immediately try to reserve one for a ride in CA?

The whole system works together. So you can make one FP at DL, then when the time comes up that you can make another, you can go ahead and make that one for CA, even if you haven't been over there yet. You can mix and match all day long!

No. From what I understand (researched, haven't used yet) you can still only have one at a time, so you can't reserve something in DL and DCA at the same time. Gotta use one up first.
If I'm wrong please correct me!

No, for the purposes of Maxpass and Fastpasses, Disney considers the two parks as one.
