Is it really Disney My Way?

I am wondering, especially when I read about not being able to ask for a specific camp site. I purchased the Disney My Way package and there are many things that I am finding that are not going my way.

I am just kidding with all this but it does make me think.

For instance it would be going my way if they just answered my questions about site dimensions.

I have looked and looked for the site dimensions for a tent with a partial hookup at Ft. Wilderness. First the sand tent set up sq. footage area and then I am interested in the area with the picnic table and the water proximity to it. I am interested in drawing out our site with our tent and breakfast cooking shelter. Does anybody know the dimensions?

Our tent is a 3 room tent + we want to set up a 10x10 screen room for a microwave and a plug in cooler (mini-kitchen for breakfast and late night snacking only). 6 people are in our party. I'm sure we can probably fit on the smallest site; I am more interested in the layout. It has been about 15 years since we went tent camping there- I can hardly remember.

I wonder if anybody out there might know about just one campsite that is in the 1500 or 2000 loops; its dimension's in particular.
There was one photo that was of an empty site. It looked pretty small.
I think we could fit but I'm not too sure. We have our 3 room tent, a kitchen shelter, our van and a large luggage trailer (size of a small u-haul).

First I called Ft. Wilderness directly, but they relayed my call to 1 407 W Disney. A lady, who spoken broken English, first told me to call back on the
17th. I explained my question in simple terms and she returned with the anwer that would address a site for an RV. I explained that my reservation was for a tent, not an RV. She put me on hold 3 times before I was again put back to Ft. Wilderness' front desk who once again told me to call back 5 days before our reservation (the 17th). Back to square one. It's OK. I just don't think my question is that difficult to answer. I however, have it marked on my calendar to call them on the 17th.

It would be nice to really have it my way.

I just wanted to say yea it's like " the year of a million dreams ", everyone but our family...we didn't see one thing whenever we were there for two weeks, not even one person get a fastpass...lol...whos getting those dreams ?

Site 2020.

This is not exact, but approximate from what we had set up on the site.

I would say the sand area is about 25 deep x 20 feet wide.

The grill "sqare" is about 6 or 7 foot deep x 3-4 feet wide.

I would say the driveway is about 25 feet deep x 11-12 feet wide.

The electric/water pole was at the end of the driveway where it met the sand.

The grill "square was at the end of the driveway where it met the sand on the opposite side of the driveway.

So, the water was only about 10 feet from the grill "square", but on opposite sides of the driveway.

I hope this makes sense.

Actually, your request is difficult -every site is slightly different. FW was laid out in the late 60's and there was no "standard" size.

The folks who answer the phone (i.e. reservations cast members) have differing levels of expertise regarding Fort Wilderness. Keep in mind that there are tens of thousands of Disney hotel rooms fitting into a few categories such as Value, Moderate and Deluxe. Most rooms, no mater what property have similar size rooms, room capacities and rules regarding the room. So, the reservations cast members have most of the information regarding rooms in their head. Except for the exceptional reservations cast members, for Fort Wilderness they usually read what is on the screen in front of them. They don't have the site sizes in front of them, plus they will not guarantee a site of "X" size.

Calling on the 17th is just going to get you more frustrated. CRO is still not going to know what size sites they have and the front desk at FW is still not going to know what site you have. Until you are standing in front of them at check in they will not tell you or guarantee anything.

With occupancy percentages normally running 90+ at FW they really don't have to do the "little things" that mom and pop campgrounds do to attract business.

Now, with all that said, the information clkelley has given is great. Most of the partial sites are similar (but not exact) in size and most of the full/preferred sites are similar (but not exact) in size. But, there are differences and you need to make sure your needs are reflected on your reservation. Make sure they have it written i the notes "I have two tents, one is 10X12 and one is 8X7" With this information, the site assigner will know what you need and will find a site that your stuff will fit on.

I know this won't help for your preplanning but, last year when we pulled up to check in the girl looked at our rig, asked a couple of questions, then pulled out a book with site dimension in it. It took about 15 minutes but they found the perfect site for out rig.
