Is it really a disadvantage to take Disney Transfer to Ship?

How would a Disney transfer work if we were staying at a non-Disney resort in Orlando? Would we have to take a cab back to MCO and then leave from there? (We're staying at the Wyndham Palace Resort and Spa... rates were much better.) How does all of this work?

Also, how do you book a Disney transfer? Does it come with the cruise package when it is sent to you?

Thanks,
Jamie

We loved our Disney transfers. We were able to go to AK the day of embarkation and they even stored our day packs for us. They played Disney DVDs on the way to port too. All the luggage was taken care of for us and we didn't have to check in at the port. It was great!

If you're staying close to the airport, the hotel shuttle will gladly take you to the DCL desk area. This last time, we did exactly that - stayed at the Marriott and they took us back to MCO in the morning to catch an early bus. No problems.

We have also stayed "off-property" and taken a cab to a WDW resort with a DCL pickup point. You leave about 12:15 or so, and get to the port by 1:30. No problems either, although you get to the port much later.

Earlier was better for us, and embarkation picture showed it. We didn't look all frazzled like we did when we came from the WDW resort.

Your TA can book them, or if you deal with DCL directly, you can call and add transfers.

Hope this helps!

I am staying at the Beach Club as part of a 3/4 Land/Sea package in December. I have heard that the bus from the Beach Club normally leaves at 11:45am.

Does anyone know if this bus stops at other resorts before heading to port?

(We actually don't mind the leave time because we are planning on doing the Cape May Cafe character breakfast that morning.)

Not in this case, DCL buses will probably be taking us to alternate port on Saturday and it will be much easier to deal with those transfers than private ones.

But then again, someone is bound to come up with a better idea!
