Is it realistic to do a solo Disney trip in a wheelchair?

I'm new to posting on these boards, I've read some stuff here for the past couple of days. I'm a paraplegic and I'm in wheelchair. I've never been to Disney, but have always want to go to DisneyLand. I was injured four years ago at the age of 18. I try to be independent as possible and I really don't like asking for help unless I really need it. I have some vacation time this summer and I want to go to DisneyLand. The problem is I can't find anyone who wants to go with me. I know many people do solo trips. But I just worry about trying to attempt a solo trip in a wheelchair. Any advice is welcome.

T8 complete para here and I was injured when I was 17. I'm 56 and I still go to WDW solo every now and then, twice last year. I also visited DL solo in 2009 and had a great time.

If you're good on handling transfers and getting around by yourself I'd say go for it!!! WDW is the most accessible place I've ever visited and DL is almost as accessible. I drove to Anaheim as part of a cross-country trip and I stayed at the Howard Johnson's across the street from DL and just walked over to the parks.

hey there, and I would say go for it... Not in a chair but use a cane. And the cast members are awesome.

Yea, it's rough getting back up in the chair if you fall. I tend to use the multi-transfer approach. One hand on the wheelchair one on the couch or some similar lower level spot. Then up to the couch. Then from there up into the chair. In my younger days I could do the floor to chair transfers but I'm getting too old for that stuff.
