Is it pretty much impossible to get the CA DVC at 7 months?

We're on the waitlist for GC for three nights in September (studio or 1 BR); any chance?

As a backup, tell me about PP & the DLH. The points are pretty high for a hotel room. Is PP worn? Is the construction at DLH a big disruption--what will be done by September? Can you request an updated room?

If you go over to the DLR boards, there's lot of discussions about the PPH & DLH. I just stayed at the DLH for the first time last month, and the new rooms are beautiful. There should not be any 'un-renovated' rooms left because they are currently renovating the last floors in the last tower (Wonder). One pool is done (the Neverland Pool) with the new monorail slide, and it looked pretty cool (it opened two days after we left! ) so we wanted to ride it when we go back in late Sept and booked 2 nights there before our VGC stay since our waitlist for extra nights around the same time last year didn't come through. PPH looks cool but the "beach"-ey theme doesn't appeal to us. Either way if you can get a couple of nights at VGC then fill in with the others, I like that they will transfer your luggage while you're in the parks ...
So yes, there's some construction left, and how disruptive it is is debatable. We didn't think it was that big a deal and will be less so by September, but it depends on which tower you're in/how much you're paying I think.

I have friends who booked a studio during Easter week this year right at 7 months and had no problem getting it. Who knows if popularity/bookings will change. For instance we live in Florida and don't plan to go to VGC every year but bought points there for when we do as I don't want to stress over it and I definitely will only stay at VGC when we go to Disneyland. I think there are quite a few owners who use their VGC points for WDW resorts/different vacations which frees up space for other DVC members to reserve there. I'm not sure how many are local and/or visit that often, KWIM? I'm also wondering if more people will want to stay there now that the DW is sailing from LA or before/after a trip to Aulani. Still, so far, so good I think for most dates.---Kathy

There are a lot of owners who live less than 100 miles that bought points for specific nights (i.e. NYE, anniversaries, birthdays, F&W, Gay Days) and the 11 month advantage on those specific dates. Others bought just for the flexibility of the 11 Month window at random times of the year. There is also a rumor floating around that they are working to get the GCH available on points, but that has yet to come to fruition. I think there will be availability as long as one is flexible.

we got ours at exactly 7months for this oct for 5 days. we could not get a full week though .

Doesnt matter we are using the rest of the points to stay in palm springs.

Wow I assumed it would be nearly impossible at 7 months... thank you for sharing this....we would love to stay there the next time we happen to be there... we did look around and the resort looks really nice.
