Is it possible?

We are leaving next week. After reading all of the responses regarding DCL transfers (which we have) I am wondering if it would be possible for me to get a cab or town car to get to the ship earlier. On our docs, it says our embarkation time is 1:00pm.

I really want to go to the spa, as does my DH. We are not doing Palo this trip. But, I am worried that we won't get there in time to get a res for the spa.
So, can I go earlier to port and check in or do we have to go together? Would it be worth it to grab a cab to port for all of us? How much do you think it would cost?
Since it says 1:00pm on our docs, does that mean they will get us there by 1:00pm?
Thanks alot!!!

the terminal opens about 10-10:30 AM. You can get there and check in, all adults have to be present to pick up the KTTW card. The boarding doesnot start until about 11:45 to 12:30

Where are you coming from? A cab is more compare to a towncar unless you are staying at the port.

We will be coming from the land portion of our trip. W are staying at the Beach Club Resort.

The port opens at 10:30am, so people will be checking in at that time and they will be at the beginning of the boarding line. If you want reservations, I would get there a lot earlier than 1:00.

You should probably travel to the port as a group, it's a lot less hassle than arriving/checking in at different times. A few minutes difference (like to park a car or catch a rental car shuttle back to the port) is not a big deal.

Last week, on the Magic, they said that a taxi to the airport is approximately $60 - $80, and to/from the parks it was well over $100.

I've read other posts about the DH taking back a rental car and the DW and kids checking in at the port. The DH then just goes up to the desk to get his KTTW card later.

So, basically if you do the 7 day land and sea with DCL transfers...YOU DON'T GET RESERVATIONS. UGHHHHH!
Has anyone stayed at the resorts, used DCL transfers, and got reservations for what they wanted? Or am I dreaming!

We are getting ready to go our our fist land/sea trip as well. I believe if you are already on your land portion you will already have your KTTW card. This means you would not have to check in at the port and can just board once the ship is open.

I can't speak to the reservation piece since this is my first cruise with DCL. From what I have read on these boards, I don't believe you can make reservations until 1:00 or 1:30. If this is the case I don't see why 1:00 would not be fine if you don't have to check in at the port.

I talked to a girl from DCL alittle while ago regarding this. She assured me it wouldn't be a problem. She said that the "ship isn't ready, and no one is allowed on before 12:30 or so anyway!" My point was, the people that get there early will already be in line for ressies, thus...bumping me back. She again, assured me that we WILL get to go to the spa. However, I found her quite rude! I was actually shocked. As much as we paid for this trip, I'd think that CS agents should be blowing sunshine up my "you know what."
Anyway...I guess, I'll just take my chances. If it's meant to be, I guess we'll get ressies. Thanks for your help!

OJulie,

You may want to research this a bit further...in reading these boards it sounds as if DCL transfers will not get you to port until later in the afternoon and if your cruise is sold out, reservations may definitely be a problem. We too are doing our first cruise and we have arranged alternate transport because I definitely want spa ressies. Also, I just did this (monday) and Disney was very accomodating in letting me cancel my transfers even though I already had my docs.

I Just called the beach club resort, where we will be staying...For that day, we are scheduled to be shuttled over to port with a pick up time of 11:45. She says the shuttle looks as if it will be full, and we should arrive at port around 1:00pm. :yo-yo:

Hi Julie,

We took the DCL transfers last year from AKL and we were on board by 1:30 p.m. I booked a pedicure and the Elemis facial and had no problems getting the times I wanted. In fact, I didn't even book until the next day. Then again, we were on the 3-night cruise so we had no Sea Day so that wasn't an option. Maybe if you want to book on a Sea Day, getting there early might make a difference. We weren't interested in Palo so I don't know if there were any times left for that when we got on board.

Hope you have a great trip!

Karen

Thanks Karen~ We don't care about Palo either. My DH isn't a "fancy food guy" and I don't care regardless. I just want to go to the spa~so you made me feel better. I don't even care what day I go, so I don't really think it's going to be a big problem. I feel better about it all tonight!
Thanks for the responses!

Julie,
Are you on the May 6th Wonder? That's when we are going. We too are staying at the Beach Club for our land portion. Let me know how the DCL transfers work out for you as I did cancel mine and booked a van.

Have a great time!
Gina

Hi Gina~
We are actually starting our land portion on May 6th at the Beach club. We board the Wonder on the 9th. I'll do a trip report when I get back and let you know what i thought about the DCL transfers. This is our "learning" cruise! LOL
Have a fabulous time!:Pinkbounc
If you like seafood, I hear the Cape May seafood buffet in our hotel is wonderful!
