Is it possible to transit Atlanta in one hour?

We've received an email from our airline notifying us of flight time changes for next year and it now appears that our internal flight from Orlando to Atlanta lands at 6.22pm and our connecting flight home will now leave at 7.25pm giving us one hour to change aircraft.
Has anyone done a connection at Atlanta and would this doable before we start to panic!!
I would have thought that our luggage would be checked through and we wouldn't have to collect it.
Thanks

You'll take the PlaneTrain, the transport train, from the concourse where your arrival gate is, to the concourse where your departure gate is, If you are on the same ticket, you won't have to leave the area and go back through security. That would be a nightmare!

Find a map of the ATL airport to familiarize yourself with the airport.
F is the international concourse, but international flights can leave from any concourse. Check the departure boards when you arrive to confirm your departure gate as these can change.

While is a tight connection, it can be done. International flights officially start boarding 50-60 minutes before take-off. Your departure flight will be boarding, then, when your arrival flight is still deplaning. Then, you have to travel from whatever concourse you've landed, to the PlaneTrain, to whatever concourse your next flight departs from, which may be Concourse F, but could also be E or another concourse. I would call the air line and discuss this to make sure you will have enough time.

is the flight on the same ticket as your international flight? that's the most important thing..
if not, you could have a problem with the short connection...

Not unless you're Mo Farrah........ :-(

I have done it. Since no customs is done at the connection. It is possible. But...if there is any delay ftom your first flight it will not be possible.

I'm like you and would worry about only having an hour to change planes; however, this is completely doable in Atlanta. Are you using the same airline or code share partner for both legs? If so, the transit will be even easier. Delta sometimes arranges the gates for these type of flights to be quite near one another.

The flight on the way home is a code share, so the internal flight is with Delta, and the international flight is with Virgin.

If the internal flight is running around 10 min late, do you reckon the virgin flight would be held for us or would we be bumped off onto the next available flight? Which looks to be a Delta flight leaving at 9.30pm? ( We're travelling business class if that makes a difference)

You should be OK given that this is for your returning flight. As long as you are on the same ticket, although they may not necessarily hold the flight for you, they will make sure you get onto the next flight. I think an hour is doable though.

We've just come through Atlanta and on a code share. I wouldn't risk 60 minutes. Our flight from MCO to ATL landed in concourse A and the Virgin flight departed from F. By the time we'd arrived at the gate (F2) it was approximately 45 minutes from leaving the Delta plane. It can be done but it's very tight.

Thanks, I'm thinking that we will see if we can get an earlier flight from Orlando to Atlanta.
