Is it possible to get burgers without a whole wheat bun?

I know a lot of the CS places are serving whole wheat buns with their burgers and I applaud Disney for going a bit healthier with their menus. But is it possible to ask for a burger with a normal white bun? I have a stomach condition that makes it very difficult for my stomach to digest whole grains. I'm sure I can just get chicken nuggets or something instead if its not possible but I do like the burgers at Peco Bill's quite a bit.

I don't think that you can get a plain white bun, but if whole grains upset you, you can ask for one of their gluten-free tapioca buns.

1) Son-of-a-Gun.
2) I have a similar problem.
3) I have a taste bud that makes it diffucult to eat wheat buns.
4) I usually ask for the burger on the sub bun (white bread).

Have you had one of these tapioca buns? What are they like? I have to be careful about what I eat because of my stomach condition. Do they taste the same as a normal bun?

Haha yes sometimes people do find it difficult to stomach the taste of whole wheat buns. I ate only whole grains before I was diagnosed so it's difficult for me to get used to eating non-whole wheat bread products. Do you find that the burger tastes just as good on a sub bun as a regular white bun?

Just the gluten free bun. I don't think they even have regular white hamburger buns that you can ask for.

according to the manager at Port Orleans FQ, it is not whole wheat but all grain buns....I, on the other hand, stopped at Publix and bought WHITE BUNS...I didnt end up having a burger on vacation but they were with us in case...

I know, a lot of people said "you bought buns at a store" ...YUP and we were going to ask for the burger only and then put our burger in our buns...but didnt have to this visit........will AGAIN do it in May when we go back

Hmmm. Is there anywhere we can buy white buns close to the resorts? We're taking the ME from the airport to CSR and we wont have a car or anything to get around. I dont think its weird at all to bring your own bun! Haha. If Disney wont supply them then why not bring your own.

You might want to check the gluten free buns and tapioca buns that you can find locally where you live just to see if you think you can tolerate them. You might also be able to find out what brand the ones at Disney are when you call them and speak to them about noting your condition on your Table Service ADRs, so then you can check out that specific brand ahead of time.

I've heard of people mentioning Eden brand gluten free at Disney, but I would call and ask detailed questions about the different restaurants.

:)I would think they would be at the gift shop food section--if not I would buy white bread and use that. DH can't stand the wheat buns--he was tickled pink that Casey's had that white bun last year. It was too much bun for me but made him happy. I actually told him I would put a couple in a zip lock and take it to the parks with us. Didn't have to but I was prepared.

This is the biggest problem I have with Disney Dining. WDW-DINE is only a reservation service. They can't answer detailed questions about specific restaurants, their policies and what they serve. I'm certain they can tell you practically nothing about CS restaurants. The worst part is that it appears sometimes the phone agents, when they don't know the answer to a question, appear to make things up. I also think they consult the Disney website, which doesn't have a lot of information either - and some of the information it has is not correct.

There is Disney Special Diets, which the OP could try seeing as it's a food intolerance they're dealing with and not preference. The contact information is on the DisABILITES board.

I think they're using different buns this year over last. They're still not great, but the texture is less styro-foamish, and they don't fall apart as quickly.

I can't figure out why they don't use better buns at the World. I have yet to meet a single person who actually likes the wheat/grain rolls they serve.

It was part of their idea to force healthy eating on us for the 7 or 8 days we are on vacation. This frustrates me to no end.

We are adults and on vacation - we can make our own decisions

Thank you! I will call them and see what they say. If no subsitutions can be made maybe I will just try and pack some in my suitcase in a tupper ware container so they dont get squished :rotfl:

Sadly, Disney has decided to offer guests only what the food gods at Disney decide to serve and that doesn't involve much choice. It's getting really bad when guests have to bring their own buns into the parks. I find it's easier to just go with the meatball sub or fill up on popcorn (I think they still serve real popcorn...).

Frankly, the burgers are not special enough to go to all this trouble. Just eat something else.

I'm glad I read this because I had no idea that Disney only serves Wheat buns. My DS10 won't touch a Wheat bun with a 10 ft pole. So I will either bring in some buns in my backpack or have him not order a burger.

yes, that is a pretty bad idea for a vacation mecca, not to mention when they started it, I was terribly frustrated because I find that most of what gets pushed the hardest by people who want to control other people's dietary health is rarely the stuff that would really be good for people. I certainly don't feed my family based on the pressure of the fad of the day being handed out by center for science in the interest of controlling people or the so-called nutrition journalist. I cringe when I see low-fat or low-salt or some other goofiness on a disney marketing package in the freezer section at the grocery store for some food that is full of artificial colors or flavors. blecky.

But I am thankful that Disney Dining is relatively easy to deal with on the issues of our food allergies.

Yikes! That is awful. I guess back when I did it I spoke with the people in the Special Diets department. Thanks for the reminder! :goodvibes

agreed..i can't digest red meat well so i don't eat burgers. But, i've never had a problem finding a million other options at disney for food besides burgers.

or just get a fork and eat it without the bun if you gotta have the burger.

but i'd take the roast chicken anywhere at disney over a burger (or disney pizza...bleck).

Friends don't let friends eat disney pizza.
