It's all up to your school, your study abroad program you choose, and your major in school. I transferred after my CP to UCF and lost about 40 credits in the process (nearly 3 semester's worth.) I never thought study abroad would EVER be an option for me, considering I was already working as hard as possible to shove as many classes into each semester to graduate as early as possible. And yet, last summer I found myself on a 3 week long study abroad program, taking classes towards my major. Although 3 weeks is a very short period of time for study abroad, it definitely fulfilled the part of me that had wanted to go abroad while not putting me any further behind in school, and I loved every second of it. Look into what programs your school offers, as well as talking to your advisor and seeing what he/she recommends. I'm only graduating 1 semester behind when my advisors and department chairs have told me from the start I would never be able to do it- and that's with doing a CP, transferring, AND study abroad!
