Is it possible to do both Fantasmic and Illuminations on the same night?

We have a fantasmic dining package and the show starts at 8:30. I was wondering if we would have time to make it to Illuminations that starts at 9:30. I wouldn't be upset if we miss the starting few minutes ( we seen it in 2015). I want to see the holiday tag at the end though. I think I have read about there being a way to walk between Hollywood Studios and Epcot... Any help and opinions would be appreciated. thank you!

Since Fantasmic runs for 30 minutes, you'd be lucky to get to Epcot by 9:30.

If Illuminations is starting at 9:30, then you could make it if you walked quick. I'd recommend sitting near the top of Fantasmic to get a jump on the crowd. You'd be leaving Fantasmic at 9 and it's about a 20 min walk to epcot. So you could be arriving right before Illuminations

Illuminations usually starts at 9 so on most nights it wouldn't be possible

You need to sit near the top, near an exit, and leave immediately and walk quickly. Unless it's an EMH, EP will close the entrance gates at 9:30, so if you're not at the International Gateway before that, you won't even get in.

After Thanksgiving, it moves to 9:30 to give time for Candlelight to finish before Illuminations starts.

I saw illuminations, star wars fireworks, and then fantasmic in the same night.

I don't even remember how I pulled that off. I think illuminations was at 9, star wars was at 10, and fantasmic was at 11. It was a beautiful but FAST walk from Epcot to HS. We ended up passing the boardwalk hotel and walking next to a lake. I am sure someone no here can help you with that

I got to epcot about 10 mins before star wars started. It was incredible, and the best pure firework show I have ever seen. It was the first kind of star wars fireworks, not the show they have now. The one now pales in comparison

It is possible though, it is just harder to get out of fantasmic than it was to walk from epcot.

Sorry, but I don't believe that's the case.

So if park hours are until 9:30, they'll still let you in the park after 9:30? How long past closing might one be able to still get in the park?

I would try, just walk FAST from HS-Epcot and sit near the entrance to F!....

Done it several times with no problems with the hour start time differences. As others have said, the key is getting out of Fantasmic quickly. I usually sit 2/3 way up towards the right entrance and get up as soon as Mickey says his final line to get to the top of the theater right when it ends. You should be able to get through the turnstyles at International Gateway just under 30 minutes from when you start walking out of Fantasmic with a brisk but reasonable pace leaving you 5 minutes or so to spare (read: find a viewing spot).

EDIT: Also make sure you know the route from DHS to Epcot cutting through Boardwalk. Going around adds more time that you want to take. I'm sure Robo has a map of the "correct" route.

I'm not going to specify a time.
But, consider how many guests dining late at Boardwalk need to get to their cars which they left in the Epcot lot.
