Is it possible to change my daughters name on Delta?

Last week, i officially adopted my step daughter who is 15. We are flying to orlando in 5 weeks and was wondering how to change her name on her airline ticket to my last name, now that it is official. i have the certified copy from the judge stating she is adopted and this is her new name. we are still waiting for the birth cert office to get the info to get that-they said that generally takes 2-4 weeks after the adoption to get a new one from them. Can i call delta and have it changed along with her skymiles info, or how can it be done?

I found this on Delta's website regarding the skymiles account. I'm not sure if they will change the name on this existing ticket but since your daughter is 15 she will not require ID so it will not matter.

Name and Address Changes
Each member shall be responsible for advising Delta of any change of name, email, or postal address on their account.

Address Change
Delta reserves the right to update the address for any member's SkyMiles account using the National Change of Address (NCOA) data filed by relocating postal customers, but shall have no obligation to do so. Using their Delta Personal Identification Number (PIN), members may update their account address information by visiting delta.com/myprofile. You can also update your account address by submitting the information via fax, mail, or by phone using your PIN.

Name Change
The member's signature and SkyMiles membership number must be included in all written correspondence. Name change requests cannot be processed over the phone. A copy of supporting legal documentation (e.g., court order) must be submitted by fax/mail and will be required for any name change requests.

I'd say don't bother wasting your time trying to correct an non-adult ticket, you won't have any issues without it being changed and it will just take your time and probably some legwork on your end to get it done.

I actually called them after i got the 1st reply and faxed them. they changed the name on the phone, and then about 2 hours after i faxed in the paperwork, they called me on the phone to tell me the mileage name had been changed and now tied to our res. i was really impressed on their speed!

That's nice that you were able to change the name, but as someone already posted, it really wasn't necessary for a minor. Congratulations on the adoption.

Though it may not have been necessary for a minor which i already knew, it was personal preference for us a family to have all of us with the same names on our boarding passes for when she sees hers.
