Is it possible Annual passes could sell out?

Are you buying a WDW AP?

Honestly, I think they put that message out there to simply give themselves the option if something like the last year happens again.

It also makes sure that those buying know that sales could stop because they are “sold out”.

I don't think they will "sell out".

Wondering however if they put this provision in just incase the situation at DL turns out to be too much like the old system - ie too many locals.

I was thinking that, but I also think they can play that whole supply and demand everyone else is playing now days.

I think it's threefold:

1. It's legalese to cover themselves if they need to stop selling at some point. I'm pretty sure the language (or something like it) has always been there, just maybe not so prominently. Kind of like the language that an AP doesn't necessarily guarantee you entry to the park - that was true before if the park was full, such as NYE or other big events.
2. As a corollary to #1, if they decide that there are too many locals snapping up park reservations/taking up room, they could stop selling them temporarily. I doubt they will in Florida, it's more of an Anaheim problem, but they could.
3. It helps create panic-buying amongst Disney fans. When Magic Key went on sale, they were swamped for days. People waiting in line and on the phone and fighting online to get these passes on the first day...that are still on sale several weeks later, as they were likely always going to be. The "we may sell out" creates an instinctive "Oh no! I need to be sure I get mine right away then!" rush - myself included. I'm over here freaking out that my Target Redcard is taking too long to process so I won't have my gift cards lined up by Wednesday evening (as my partner has told me in no uncertain terms that buying Disney passes is not an appropriate activity for Rosh Hashanah! :rolleyes1 ). As though I can't buy it just as easily on Friday...or next week...or next month, since we don't go until November! But that threat of "it might not be here..." is the same tactic people use to sell any number of other things, from the "it" toy to cars to homes.

They say this year they are limited, is it really possible they could sell out?

Well, the Boo Bash After Hours event was limited capacity. Then several dates sold out quickly. And….. guess what…. Capacity was increased & more tickets became available. :sad2: If APs do come close to selling out, they can increase the cap number & keep them open. Since they never release capacity or cap numbers, management can do it with no issues at all. And the public will never know.

Will Disney stop taking money for something that costs them 0 to provide.....survey says no!
Huh? By that logic even the day guests should get in for free.

Its why Disney gives away so many comp tickets to make people happy when situatuons happen. The cost of a comp ticket is the cost of the media its placed on and nothing else.

The cost of selling more aps would basically be 0, all they need to do is cap the ap bucket in the park reservations

Agree with them writing it in to cover anything that may pop up, but does anyone really think Disney will stop taking people’s money for APs when they can actually just limit reservations?

If they really wanted to they could take all of our money for APs and then limit the reservations so nobody could get in. It’s a no-lose situation for them. It’s a dream situation for Disney.

Say there is some other pandemic/storm/Chapek wants to roll around in stock options for a month in Hollywood Studios all by himself/etc. They can just say “Sorry! No reservations available”. They already have our AP money.

APs have nothing to do with capacity anymore so why would they stop selling them under any circumstances?

That's actually what we are scared of, the last few months the calander has been all green. After Wednesday I can go in and make reservations for the next 4 Saturdays or whatever. What am I going to do when I spend 820 down payment and 200 a month and cant get in? We can only go on weekends.
That's the main reason I'm paying with my card this time instead of giftcards. If I demand my money back.

Theres also 0 transparency.

On every website , people are asking what time they go on sale. This logic says that just like California people are worried they are going to sell out...

I think it will depend how full the parks are without APs. If Disney can fill the resorts and parks without needing a lot of APs, I would not be surprised to see them limit sales. However, if the parks are not as full as they wish, sales will nearly unlimited.
