I did tell my DD4 to start packing last night. Too cute. I checked her suitcase after she declared herself done. She had packed two pair of underwear, 1 dressy dress, 1 casual skirt and blouse, her new Disney lanyard, and a baby photo of herself. :lmao:

That is so cute.

But what animals are not allowed out in the morning?:confused3 The animals are out all day and night. They don't take them in unless they are sick or want to come in. I had even asked about the animals when we went in December because it was so FRIGIN cold I thought for sure the animals were going to freeze, but the CM said no they stay outside.:scared1:

The animals were penned in the morning, let out for a few hours, the re-penned. This was all the animals. DH had asked was given times to look but didn't get a good answer. There was talk on the buses of other guests upset about it also. I am going to believe that something was going on during the time we were there.

We saw the animals around 3ish in the afternoon. Then a few a dusk. The last day we were there in the mid morning the baby giraffe was out, a truck came trying to get it back (that is what it looked like) then they sent out another giraffe (Mom?) and the another (Dad). This went on for a bit then all three walked towards the pen and were gone. At the time they were out, no other animals were seen.

As I said, it was being talked about in hallways and on buses, so I was not sure if this was a new thing, something I should have asked about, or not the normal.

That is too bad...maybe the animals were in trouble for trying to swim in the pool:rotfl:

....at least she didn't pack the X-Box, like my DS did...

We have wanted to stay at AKL since it first opened and this September we finally are. Thanks to a friend who I work with who owns DVC, we are staying in a one-bedroom villa with a savannah view in Kidani Village for two nights before moving to the CSR for the remainder of our trip. We will not be doing parks those two days...just hanging out at the pool and watching the animals while at AKL. I am very excited.

...don't forget to bring a rake........for the floating furballs.

Today is positive day... AKL is very special place to stay. I have to try and remove my health from it all and just soak all the great in. As I type, I am trying to get my pictures downloaded. So hopefully this is not just me talking, a little visual is great...

** since we were not given a clue as to how to get to our room, we walked a bit. I can't even begin to say how many days is would take to see all the displays and beautiful artwork are in the resort.

** if you need the paramedics, the lobby is quite comfy to sit in and big enough that the whole place isn't staring at you.;);)

** every single MouseKeeper we met was nice, friendly, and well they should be in positions to work with the public. If I just had to deal with them, I would have been happy.

** the animials we did get to see were amazing up close. So much, my DH is begging the kids to pick AKL for Christmas. He isn't winning yet (Poly is since the kids really have been begging for that)

** we had two dining credits left our first evening. Since we were still a bit clueless on where to go, and Boma was closed, we got 1 meal with room service and shared. It was too die for!!! I brought the menu home, so if anyone wants me to share, I will. The meal (yes one meal) would have cost well over $100.00, but getting a little hot sauce bottle, smaller than a perfume sample, well worth it.

** the room was smaller than I expected, but clean and comfy. Very inviting for two. My kids are older now so we would have to do 2 rooms, but I would take some extra time to budget it.

** gift shop is so unique.

** bus system was a bit slower than other resorts, but not anywhere near too long to wait.

** CL level is well worth the extra money. We were able to eat a full breakfast. We made the last second of tea time one day, and I would make it a priority to get to the resort next time to try it. Never learned how to make coffee from the cool machine, but that's my fault. Made my own juice specialty by mixing juices.

** And this is my TADA moment..... I did cordial shots with DH. First time in over 20 years. Tasted really good. Only problem with the alcohol was DH really wanted to try an African beer, but no one could find the bottle opener.

So when I sit back and think about it I really would like to go back uninjured and try again. But with a no park promise. There is so much to see and do, going in and out ruins it.

Okay, pictures, hopefully to follow.

I've been reading this thread for 2 days, but I don't think I'm ever going to get through it all! Since it's been over a year since our last visit to AKL (the horror!), I thought I'd better refresh my memory and make sure there haven't been any big changes I missed. My DMIL and DFIL have NEVER been to Disney  , and this will likely be their only trip, so we're trying to get organized and make it a good one!

We're staying in a 2BR standard view at Kidani. We had a savannah view last time, but we decided with the nice public viewing areas that it wasn't really necessary since we're not going to be in the room a whole lot anyway. I usually cook most of our meals in the room, but since we're taking first timers, we'll want to spend more time in the parks this trip. DMIL's boss also has DVC, so she's been hearing about it for years and is really excited!

We will arrive late on Sat. night (flight gets in at 9:55 so maybe around 11 by the time we get to the resort), so I'm wondering how much of a challenge it will be to get everyone to rope drop Sun. am. I've only done camping vacations with my in-laws in the past, and DMIL tends to sleep til 11, so I'm hoping she's prepared for a different pace!

We are planning MK for Sun. with dinner at 1900 Park Fare, HS Monday with lunch at Big River Grille, Epcot Wed with lunch at LeCellier, AK on Wed, probably DTD Wed. night, and catch anything important we missed on Thurs. am before heading home. It's going to be fast and furious! Hopefully we all make it through the week without killing each other! I even proposed to DH last night that we let his parents have the master and we take the 2nd bedroom so the kids could sleep in our room with us and the couch and chair could stay folded up the whole time. He's not real keen on the idea of giving up the master, but agrees that it does make sense, so I'll have to wait and see what he decides!

...what?? No mention of ZD's??!?!!? :snooty: [ :teeth: ]

Forgot one "large" zebra dome came with our dessert. I wish I had more, but I was so out of it most of the time that I didn't get much farther than our room and the CL level. Now DH might have had more, he took walks. :rotfl:

Here's a few pictures, photobucket and I are fighting today!!

YUM! :cloud9:

Sounds like it will be a great trip!! :cool1:

Time to dance...:dance3:  :yay:

Just popping in to say hi to everyone!:goodvibes I haven't been here since my day off on Tuesday. I started my regular hours this week....I get home just after 6:30pm now, so by the time I work out, shower, have supper, sometimes I just don't make it online much.
I work Saturday mornings now, too....I'll be back tomorrow night! Have a great Friday night all:grouphug:

Quick opinion question:
I *may* run the Expedition Everest 5K in May (still need permission from DH!). If so, I'll be traveling solo. There are only 3 "official" race hotels - AKL, Caribbean Beach, and All-Star Music. I've always wanted to stay at AKL (my DH thinks it's too far from everything, especially with 3 kids in 2 strollers and no rental car - but that's another story) so I thought this might be destiny. :lmao: For approximately the same price I could get a savanna view room at AKL, a savanna view studio at Jambo, or the same studio at Kidani. It'll be a short trip - arrive super late on Thursday night and leave on Sunday. Which would you choose and why? Would you skip the savanna room and save a few bucks? I have an AP so I can go to the parks or just chill out at the resort depending how my mood strikes me. And we're returning to Disney with the kids in August for a one week trip so I don't feel any particular need to do anything.

Thanks for the advice,
Amanda
