...I always wondered about that...
....soooo, they go to college to become farmers?![]()
.... But this is what it says....
Bachelor's degree programs in agriculture are typically divided between programs that focus on managing food production systems and those that emphasize the science of soils, animal husbandry and plant cultivation.
....uhhhhhhh, FARMER!
LOL - I just wondered what an "aggie" was..................now it all makes sense, well, except for the "gig' em" part? what does that mean???
Brandi - I hope you know we are just kidding around!!!but, really what does that mean............... ????? LOL
Anyway - it was a fun game to watch, I'm jealous you got to be there - I wish we could've gone that would've been fun. Although, a sat. night in death valley isn't too shabby!![]()

I am good.... I give and take very well......
We always used it as a greeting or explicative; like "Hello" and "Goodbye" almost like "Aloha" but this is the official answer....
Gig 'em
Rather than end a conversation with "goodbye," many conversations between Aggies end with "gig 'em," usually accompanied by a hand signal in which the hand is fisted and the thumb extends upwards in a Thumbs up. This tradition began at a 1930 Midnight Yell Practice held before the football game against the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs. In an attempt to excite the crowd, Pinky Downs, a 1906 Texas A&M graduate and member of the school's Board of Regents, asked "What are we going to do to those Horned Frogs?" Using a term for frog hunting, he answered his own question, "Gig 'em, Aggies!" For emphasis, he made a fist with the thumb extended. The phrase and hand signal proved popular, and it became the first hand sign of the Southwest Conference. Gig 'em is also the name of one of the school yells, which is used during football kickoffs.
The university's traditions council recognizes another possible origin for the expression. The word "gig" is used in the US Army to indicate an infraction of the uniform code, and the A&M cadets used the same vocabulary. New cadets would quickly learn to fear being "gigged" during inspection for having unshined shoes, unpolished brass, or a non-aligned "gig line."
Ahhhh - so then it's much like "who dat" - makes sense now!!!
I just wondered about all those college things.......... like for example - with the Auburn Tigers - WTH is up with the "war eagle"??? they are the tigers??? I don't get it!!! LOL ( I hope it's not just me that finds those things odd) LOL

The University of Delaware has its "Fightin' Blue Hens."
Why do I find that a little embarrassing?![]()
It happens every decade or so!!!
Depending on where in metro Atlanta, anywhere from 3 to 10" this time. There aren't enough plows, sand trucks or workers to clear the roads so only the main highways get plowed/salted/sanded (and they're actually in worse shape than many of the side streets).
We're having freezing rain now and that means everything will be sheet ice (I think it is already!) The newscasters are describing outside as "crunchy" at the moment!!
School is already canceled for tomorrow (and that's saying a lot since Gwinnett County usually waits until the last possible moment to cancel).
The latest report I heard had us staying at or below freezing until the weekend!!Yes, a few inches of snow/ice can shut this area down for a week!!! We had plenty of warning though and everyone stocked up on groceries. (and wine & beer!!!)

Glad you had your priorities straight!
We were there in 1982, I think, when Atlanta and northern GA had an awful ice and snowstorm. We taught the neighborhood children how to make snowballs and a snowman. They had never seen snow! That was fun.
