Planning on a Disney Vacation in October 2005. During one early evening my husband & I are curious about CityWalk? We know about Downtown Disney and have been there. We never been to CityWalk. We won't be going late at night or going to the clubs. We just like to explore and shop at the stores. Our son will be 5 years old at the time of the vacation. Is it a family friendly place during the early evenings? We are not going to any Universal parks but he loves Spiderman and Jimmy Neutron. Are there any character shops at CityWalk to buy any of these related items?

Thanks:bounce:

Yes. Citywalk is awesome for any age. You don see characters in Citywalk. I've never seen them at DTD either. There are cool character merchandise shops.

Citywalk is very kid friendly. They have quite a few midway type games that will appeal to your son. Many times there are entertainers milling around (probably not as many in the off season). My 5 year old DS loved NASCAR cafe. He is a car fanatic and they have a couple of cars outside of the restaurant. He also really liked NBA City-very fun. There are several shops at citywalk where you can purchase Spiderman and Jimmy Neutron stuff. Too bad you are not going into the parks-your son would love to see Spidey and friends riding around IOA on their ATV's. It is quite a sight!!

Yes, very kid friendly, at any time.
There is a fountain in the middle that shoots up water. Kids run thru it trying to avoid getting wet. Eventually they'll be soaked, but have fun. Bring a change of cloths, let one watch the kid, while the other goes for drinks. You are allowed to walk around with them in a plastic cup.
You can get your kid a slushie (virgin) drink at Margaritaville while you slam something nice. There is a huge plane outside, with a sand area. There is a kiddie train for them to ride and some carnival games (purchase required). And some of the shops have neat things to look at, like a huge gorilla, and a surf board where you can take a picture that has a cool background.

The water area is where they'll stay the longest.

Kids love this area (adults too). It is jets of water that spray in random intervals. In Feb it was roped off-maybe because of the cooler weather. Las summer it was not roped off and most everybody walks through it to cool off. Kids love it and stay there forever.

It is located near the entrance from parking lot and the main stage not far from Starbucks, Pastamore, etc.
