Is it ok to just get appetizers & drinks at a TS restaurant?

I really want to try Sci-Fi for the ambiance, but I'm planning on eating a late lunch at 50's Prime Time. I was thinking maybe DH and I could make a reservation later in the evening for Sci-Fi and just get shakes & some onion rings to share as a snack. Is that ok or frowned upon?

As an alternative, we could do meals at both, but just share. (We can rarely do 2 "big" meals in one day). Is it ok to share a meal at WDW? I know most places are DLR don't mind, although some have a split-plate charge.

I don't think it matters, but we'll be paying OOP for our meals I think.

Yes, it's fine. You can order anything you want.

The only reported split plate charges at WDW are at Shula's and Rainforest Cafe.

I was making ADRs for an upcoming trip and inquired about being able to make a late reservation to have dessert at California Grill. I was nicely told they couldn't give me a reservation just for dessert, but they did have a lounge area, and I could go there without a ressie and have dessert. Don't know if the same would apply to other TS places, but my guess would be that if you have a reservation they expect you'll be having an entree.

I've ordered appetizers and dessert there without needing to order an entree. I guarantee that if you didn't tell them ahead of time what you wanted to do, you would have had no problem getting the ADR and having dessert.

But the biggest thing to keep in mind that there is a credit card guarantee for California Grill, and they will penalize $20/per person if you don't cancel within 48 hours.

I am sure that is not always true. I've eaten at California Grill with reservations and ordered only appetizers (of course with a couple of glasses of wine that ended up costing as much as it would have if an entree had been ordered).

Had lunch at Chefs de France the other day, got soup and a salad, no entree, no issue.
