I'm a single mom. Do I have to have a "date" to eat at Palo? Will I only get charged $5 or still $10? Thanks! Does anyone bring their son/daughter to keep them company cause they are single parents or is this strickly for adults only? Thanks!

Palo is strictly for adults, but if I were on a cruise with no other adult, I'd go and enjoy dinner, brunch, and or afternoon tea there. :) You don't need a "date" and you will only be charged for yourself.

Enjoy :)

Hi Fantasia,

Palo is for Adults only and your kids are too cute to be old enough. On our cruise a group of folks (mixed group of singles and couples) who met on the cruise meet scheduled brunch together but you can certainly eat by yourself. The charge is $10.00 per person. I've read of others going by themselves and they invariably get fantastic service and get to chat a bit with their servers so they don't really feel alone.

Hi,

I'm Michael... You are paying top dollar to be on this ship. You should do anything and EVERYTHING you want.

It's 2004. I'm sure you are a proud, strong single mom.

Walk in, sit down and enjoy your dinner!

Good for you!

Michael :cheer2:

I've seen people enjoying it singularly. You might find it's just what you need!

i have to say that twice i walked into lumiere's (once for lunch & once for breakfast) by myself, twice i specifically requested to be seated alone and twice they seated somebody after i sat down. i had to share a table with others. the communication got lost somewhere between the maitre de, the hostess and the server. i was not happy because i wanted to eat and run. i wasn't in the mood for "small talk" with other people. it was very awkward!

At Palo though they do not sit couples together like they do in the rotational dining rooms......

I also vote for go, enjoy, and you'll only be charged the $10 per person once (for yourself).

If your concern is that you do want a companion, make sure to check in on the Meets thread for your sailing. You may find many others in the same place, single parents or even solo sailers. I know that I would be OK with eating there alone, but with it being a "fancy" place, I would rather eat with someone elase who is solo. I guess I am lucky, I have 3 guys to dine with on my solo cruise in August, we should have a great time!

I would like to go for brunch or tea and if I ask would they sit me with someone else I am traveling with my daugh and the grandkids and would like to pertake in Palo for brunch.

You may want to see if any of your dinner tablemates are going to Palo and hook up with them. We have invited single cruisers from our table, and we also linked up with one before one of our cruises via DIS. If you asked to sit with others, I'm not sure how they would know which people might be willing to have someone join them. My husband and I love to eat with new people on the ship, but many people hate eating with others. I'm not sure why...he and I eat with each other every day of our lives, so we love expanding our horizons on the ship.
But even if you can't find anyone, go for it! The servers will make you feel very comfortable.

Thank you everyone for your reply and encouragement. I think I will ask them to see if they can seat me with others who are also single or without an escort. It just won't be fun to sit alone and no one to talk to. Thanks guys!
