Is it ok to buy this

An artist from Collectors editions did a painting. It was a Disney image. They turned it down and would not authorize it or publish it. Now the artist wants to sell the original to me. Is this right or permitted by Disney?

Not positive but I am guessing no. If it is using disney licensed subject matter. Plus they know it's out there.
But I'm no lawyer. So maybe he/she can.

it depends on what her contract with disney is. can she only produce art for sale by disney?
