Is It Ok to Bring A Laptop Computer to A Park??

But how in the world do you use a laptop in line, bring a chair with you???

I just texted my tweets - usually when I was in line and not doing anything else useful. Saved me the time of sitting down when I got to my resort and trying to remember everything I did that day.

I started the twitter account specifically for the trip so that I'd have a record for my trip. I was with an 8 month old and 3 grandparents, so there's no way I was going to have time to write a trip report in the hotel room, I barely had time to go to the hot tub! There were also a bunch of friends of mine down there, so it was useful to see stuff like "Heading towards Main St" when I was at Casey's. Much easier to catch up with them that way.

I think a special account is a must for something like you want to do. Either that or set your account to private and make sure that the people that follow you are people you know and trust. There are people that search the public stream on Twitter just looking for people talking about being away from home b/c guess what? That means that your home is most likely empty and an easy target to break into. :scared1:

I can't imagine carrying around a laptop all day. Besides, unless your friends are just sitting at home waiting for your tweets, they're not on vacation like you, and are probably at work. I doubt they would want to hear about every fun thing you're doing while they have to work. Wait and talk to them at the end of the day when they won't hate you for being at WDW:rotfl:.

I say leave the toys at home, enjoy the park..
and be carefull, my daughter at age 6 got her stuffed animal/bagged checked, so I can't emagine not being able to hide explosives in a laptop !

I've always been pretty leary of posting my vacation plans on public websites. Even on here, I try to avoid the exact dates I'm going on a trip. I don't use Twitter, but do have a Facebook page. You're right, you never know who's watching. I'd rather not have the general public know exactly when I'm not at home, and how long I won't be there!

I was thinking About Bringing My Laptop Computer With Me to the MK So I Can Twitter And that Sort of thing. I was Wondering if theres Any Security Issues with Bringing it?

OT: I mean no offense to you, but your typing style is absolutely obnoxious to me. Why do you do that?

I can't imagine carrying my laptop around the park all day. Carrying it around the airport was more than enough for me. I will not even bother bringing it next year.

I would hate spending my park time on a computer.

We just returned from vacation and I used twitter/facebook to keep my husband's family updated on what we were doing. His dad is too sick to travel and I hated they couldn't be with us.

It was funny when I returned home how many people sent me nice messages on facebook saying they enjoyed my tweets with pics and that they felt like they, too, had been on a Disney vacation.

I tried to only tweet when I was waiting on a ride to start, etc. I never did it when we were at dinner or walking around the parks (we had 11 family members with us and I didn't want to be rude)

I will say that now I am home, I'm really glad I did it because I am getting ready to scrapbook our trip and the twitters help me put together our day to day activities for the scrapbook. Sadly, I would have already forgotten the order in which we did some of the stuff!

I have been tweeting from the parks for a year now, 4 trips so far with another coming. I don't miss anything, we have been going 5-7 times/ year since 02. I get replies from both friends and people I don't know asking questions or giving me recommendations such as this last trip for Food and Wine. It takes what 20-30 seconds to text something, what am I missing other than standing in line? It's just like a camera now, and sometimes I only carry it and leave the camera in the room, it has a camera on it, not a very good one like most camera phones, but for it's intended purpose it works great.

BTW, I use a Blackberry and will occasionally text a tweet but I use Ubertwitter most of the time so I can do searches if needed and find information as needed.

It pains me to read about 90% of these responses. The OP only asked if there was a security risk to bringing his laptop...that's it. This thread has turned into a holier than thou with everyone wondering about the practice of tweeting and benefits thereof.

What if the OP has a sick relative at home? What if the OP doesn't? It's their prerogative to do what they want to do on their vacation. It is their vacation, not any of yours.

And I absolutely love how some posters mentioned their age; as if the ability or need to use a computer is somehow age related.

Give me a break.

:confused3 How the heck are they going to know where I live based off my twitter account?

Seriously?

Most of the country is away from home from 9-5 every day. I don't think a thief would have a problem picking a target. They don't need facebook or twitter to tell them people are away from home, and besides that, how on earth do they know where I live?

For what reason do you need to twitter while on vacation? Are you a celebrity or something that people would feel the need to follow your every move at a theme park?

twit: Just got in Disney
Twit: Amazed at the long lines
Twit: ooo parade!!!
Twit: saw goofy!! my fav!
Twit: BTM is whack!!
Twit: Toilet break
Twit: 60 minutes to see Ariel?? ***?
Twit: Can this place be any hotter?
Twit: Got wet @ splash moun.......

By that argument, for what reason would anyone need twitter EVER? I'd much rather see tweets on people's vacation experiences than everyday life. Ugh.

I wish twitter would just go away forever, I don't care what anyone if doing moment by moment and I think that people who think other people really care are crazy. If you care about what other people are doing minute by minute, then you need a life. JMHO.
