Is it my tv or a cable problem?

So, a couple of days ago I stopped getting sound on some of the tv stations. Do you think it's a problem with my tv or could something like that be a cable problem. I get perfect picture on those stations, just no sound.
Recently we had to add a box to the main tv and adapters to two other tvs because our cable company switched to all digital. This is one of the tvs with an adapter. The other tvs are working fine. Just thought I'd get some expert opinions on here before I call the cable company. Thanks

Sounds like the t.v.... what kind of t.v. do you have? We have a sharp lcd tv and when we turn it on sometimes it will not have sound, we just turn it off count to 20 and turn it back on..it has sound.
If the other t.v.'s are working ...I would think it could be the t.v. ...try messing around with the audio cord (red one?) one the back of the t.v., it might need to be put into a different area if you have a flat screen..... hope this helps. I'm usually the one in the family that puts together all the t.v.'s...that's why I'm 24 and still live with my parents...they need help turning on the dvd player and how to work with the remote controls:rotfl:

The end of your response really gave me a good laugh....Yeah, my 30 yr old daughter had to come and install this new equipment for us that the cable company sent us a few weeks back!!!!! Had to install the new remotes, etc!!!!! Oh, us old folks!!!!!!!!
I was hoping that everyone would say, "of course", must be the cable....You will problably think I am even more outdated when I tell you it is a white GE tv with an attached VCR! That's right, remember VCR's! It's not that I can't replace it, I don't want to. They don't make white tv's anymore and that's what I need in my house!!!
I thank you for your advice, I will try the audio cord. AND I thank you for the good laugh I had.....be kind to your parents!!!!!!!

Let us know what it turns out to be. Thanks!

If adjusting the audio cord doesn't work, call the cable company. It's odd, but it could possibly be a problem with that box?

Oh, and some tv makers DO make white flat panel televisions! I think I've mostly seen that option on the shopping channels - HSN and QVC. Good luck!

Do you have a digital cable box? I lost sound on some of my channels and it was because the language button on the remote wasn't right. I touched it and when ENG popped up on the tv the sound came back.

DebbieB YOU ARE MY HERO!!!!!!!! It is digital....I tried the lang button on the remote, chose ENG and the sound popped back on!!!!!!!! I had tried everything else on the remote, but who would have thought the language button would do it! Thank you so much, you made my day! I can keep my old white tv for awhile again. I just always think of these boards as the best place to get ideas before shelling out cash for help. Thanks everyone!
