PoTC scene - 2 bumbling pirates in the mansion, chasing after Elizabeth, she gets away & hides in the closet...loose quote - "come out poppet, we're not going to hurt you."

101 Dalmations - Horace & Jasper, 2 bumbling thieves, looking for the puppies - loose quote "Come here puppies, we're not going to hurt you".

Is it my imagination or are those two scenes practically identical in content????

There is much that is similar in all or many Disney movies.

The mother is usually killed or just not in the picture(Bambi, Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Pirates-we never see or hear about Elizabeth's mother, Cinderella...just to name a few).

They often put something from a previous movie into another movie (Monsters Inc. has a Nemo stuffed fish in the little girl's bedroom in the last scenes of the movie, the crown that Capt. Jack Sparrow has on his head after the big swordfight in the cave is eerily similar to the one that Prince JOhn wear sin Robin Hood).

I think they work under the premise that if it was effective in one movie, it'll be effective in another movie in some way.
