Is it me or do the "FastPass+) threads seeming to be dying down?

I speaking mainly about the "I hate the new Fast Pass+" threads.

Seems like either we are accepting the fact Fast Pass+ is what it is. Or, I'm not paying attention to them as much.:confused3

I was noticing that a few days ago. It probably means we've all entered that last stage of grief :lmao:

Well, the number of FP+ threads aren't decreasing- I just counted 17 on the first page.

As for the number of "I hate FP+" threads (plus the number of "I'm done with WDW threads), you may be right. It may just be a given now that a lot of people are going to be unhappy with anything to do with MDE and FP+. There's no novelty in that anymore- people are expecting it. At least for the time being.

And/or more people are ACTUALLY USING FP+ and many of them ACTUALLY like it, on balance. Or at least don't HATE it, and are daring to say so.

Much of the negativity -- obviously NOT ALL -- was in the near-100%-conjecture phase (before it even hit the parks) or during the testing phase -- anticipation of how horrible it was most certainly going to be. And many of them will tell you they were right based on FP+'s current incarnation... though it's likely still in flux.

I think that not as many people get (and stay) heavily involved in that type of discussion. I think most people join in - to the extent that they're willing to brave it - when it is, has, or is soon going to, affect them.

My 2 cents. :)

Any thread that gets to be 20+ pages is going to die under its own weight. And there isn't any real good reason to start up new ones that makes the same points about FP+'s shortcomings. So now we get the "I just returned and I (hated/loved) FP+" to see how the actual experiences relate to the predicitions. Based on the reports that we are seeing, as one might have predicted, FP+ is not destroying the magic, nor is it elevating levels of enjoyment to never before seen heights. It is buggy, as first reported, causing long lines, as originally predicted, limiting, as is facially apparent, and causing an undue reliance on phone screens held 18 inches from our eyes. To many, these are non-events that are easily overlooked in favor of being able to know when you leave your home that you will be riding TSM at 11:30 on Tuesday. To others, these are side effects that detract from what they previously experienced with WDW. I think that you will see fewer and fewer "negative" threads because the points made therein aren't really controversial any more now that more and more people are getting to experience FP+. What differs is how people react and adjust to the changes, rather than arguing over whether there are any changes to begin with. That horse is clearly out of the barn.

I noticed that.

It seems there are still lots more changes to come though...We still don't know what is going on with offsite, bonus FPs, getting extra FPs day-of, how the Mine Coaster does with FP+...

So I'm sure there will still be plenty of conversation to be had on the topic, for better or for worse :)

I've also noticed that several of the "I liked FP+" threads ALSO say that they don't think 3 is enough, they didn't like tiering, the standby lines were long, and/or the app was challenging. These are all things that were most of the basis of the "FP Haters Club," but now they are being incorporated into the "FP+ was amazing" threads when they really mean to say they liked reserving a FP time but the rest was challenging, at least at some level.

I should start a thread about the experience my coworker just had last week with MBs and FP+ and the 10 minute posted SB waits that turned into 60 minutes.

Thanks for reminding me!! :thumbsup2

I don't see that AT ALL. I see more and more FP "wait and see" folks coming back with TRs saying "well, we waited, we saw, and FP+ is bad".

I begged FP+ lovers to tell me how it helped them, and besides the massive problem of fumbling for keys, and being able to sleep till noon and get that coveted TSMM ride, no one can say anything of substance.

So, if anything, the pro FP+ folks are realizing the charade is coming to an end as more and more people see their vacations heavily devalued by FP+.

I did pretty good last week with FP+ (my only real problem was because I didn't know how to use the app properly) but I was glad I don't stay offsite. The kiosk lines were massive.

Can't say I had anything devalued by its use though. I did a lot of spare attractions at MK and DHS but they were mostly shows and line-free attractions like the people mover. That didn't matter to me, it might matter to others. Of course the evening I was at MK, Space was down and Splash was closed. I didn't try Big Thunder, I was more or less in the Fantasyland/Tomorrowland area the whole time. 10 minute wait for Pirates was showing on the app but I didn't walk over there.

At first I read them all. Well, maybe not all 20 pages, but I wanted to see if there was a reasonable explanation for what Disney was doing. I wanted to see what people who had been there, done that were experiencing. And to see both sides of the discussion.
After a while, it became almost a personal battle. You hate. I love it. I hate it. You love it. And so on.
Most of it has been said. However, I still read the threads from people who have recently been to the parks and what they experienced because it was "new" and maybe I was dreading it unnecessarily.
I rarely reply to any except when someone says "everyone" does this or that. Then if I find that they're clumping me (and who knows how many others) into a category where I distinctly don't belong, I'll chime in.
;)

Count me as an FP+ disliker. Hate is a strong term.
My main problem is that we (as off-site guests this spring) were guinea pigs in the experiment. Disney WILL figure it out and fix it, but too late for us. FP+ is nice for on-site guests (if you book early), but still limited due to max number of FP+ and tiering. But for off-site guests it is a huge negative (no TSMM for you!), and when they fix it for everyone those of us who traveled in spring will just have to live with the fact that we got hosed.

I mean, if they change it in the future, that's admitting it was bad before, right? Will the FP+ apologists then stop apologizing? And if it was bad before, what did we guests get for our trouble, for acting as the "off-site" arm of their FP+ experiment? Nothing. We didn't pay any less or get any non-monetary compensation of any kind. We also got no warning. We had ADRs at Epcot and MK for our trip in March -- it would have been incredibly easy for Disney to send an email saying, "We see you have ADRs for March 1, but no resort reservation. If you are staying off-site, please read the following about MDE/FP+." But they spring a huge "negative" on us the day we arrive.

This part of Disboards is called "Attractions and Strategies". If your attitude is "Just enjoy the parks and wander around", isn't it *somewhat* misplaced in this forum? Or at least, shouldn't you NOT criticize those on this board who are trying to optimize their strategies to do the park the way they want? If there was a forum here called "The Joy of Disney", I wouldn't go on there saying "Why aren't you micromanaging your trip to do more rides?!?!?!?" It would be silly and contrary to the purpose of that forum.

I mean this will all respect to those reading. We ALL love Disney (there is sometimes a not-so-subtle undercurrent that if you don't like FP+ somehow you are not as bona fide a Disney lover as others). FP+ dislikers just want Disney to fix it sooner than later!!

I admit to reading almost all of them (and participating in some) before my trip last week. I had been lucky to participate in the MB testing back in September and I really liked the whole MB concept. The FP+ thing, I was kind of 'meh' about the whole thing, but there were still legacy FPs and no tiering in EPCOT and HS.

I really went with an open mind this past visit. I wanted to like FP+. I didn't. It has its positives but I just didn't care for choosing 3 when I only want 1. Or having to choose between TSMM and RnR when I used to be able to get FP- for both when visiting HS.

It didn't ruin my trip. I have a PAP. I have 3 more trips planned this calendar year. If I didn't get to ride an attraction this time, I will be back to attempt it again later. There's a learning curve to it all and one thing that I need to do is spread out my return times more so that I can enjoy the attractions surrounding my FP+ choice before ping-ponging across the park in order to enjoy the next FP+ attraction.

My take on Fastpass+ is that i am still going to go and have a great time with my family, no matter what kind of fastpass is going on.

People can only say the same thing so many times, before they just get tired of it.

Sure, i like the old fastpass better, but i am still going to love disney this summer.
