Is it just us, or....

has anyone else noticed the standardization of food at WDW? What I mean is, the uniqueness (is that a word) of each dining location seems to be getting lost. Please don't flame me, but especially since the dining plan, dining card, free dining, etc. menu items seem to be changing and not especially for the better. Specific example is CRT (for dinner): We loved eating there the first night of our trip. Butter (REAL butter) was served in the shape of Cinderella's coach. The salad was frisse lettuce and field greens with gorganzola cheese, candied walnuts and to die for raspberry vinagrette. The filet was outstanding as were the desserts. Norway actually served Norwegian cuisine. Now it seems that everything from the bread with the meal to the steaks is repeated at most of the restaurants and is pretty bland and Americanized. Even the chicken I had at the California Grille could have come from almost any other restaurant on property. We're just curious to hear if perhaps we're overreacting or if others see this melding of menus happening, too. What's your opinion?

I agree. I often feel that the food I'm eating could have come from one giant underground kitchen, regardless of what restaurant I'm at....

I believe that Norway does still serve Norweigan food - I've booked PSB Lunch and have my heart set on the Kjottakaker! (sp?) This is my favourite meal in Norway (actual Norway not WDW Norway! ;) :rotfl: )

I have not been yet but I have memorized all of the menus and have the same impression. The menus are far more limited than any restaurants I have ever been too, and the same food seems to pop up over and over(and over). Much of my initial excitement over the free DDP is gone and I almost wish I was eating offsite....I just have to keep in mind that it's FREE (well sort of, there is the matter of the overpriced resort rooms....)!

I have to agree. Some of the better items are being removed from the menus such as the calamari at Spoodles. :sad2:

Not just you at all.

And I am not sure it's anything to do with DDP, FDP, or anything else. I have noticed this since 2002 and chalked it up to being unimpressed with Disney food, or my own high expectations.

That said - the food is consistently good, better than average, often well presented.

Stellar food? Unique? Nope.

But - I have not been to CG or V&A yet. One can only dream... CG coming up on our September trip, V&A when I hit lotto and stay at GF!
