We stayed at the Grand Floridian in Dec, 2002!! It was absolutely gorgeous - and perfect for our "Christmas stay"!!! I had always wanted to stay there, and finally, we were able! The GF decorated for Christmas was breath-taking!
We loved our room, and my DDs loved sitting out on the balcony and seeing the monorail go by. My youngest DD has done the Alice In Wonderland Tea at least three or four times - she LOVES it!!! She did the Pirate Cruise and Cooking Class too - had a great time! We love to have a casual lunch at the GF Cafe! Just relaxing in the lobby is so nice!! (We've never found it to be stuffy either!!)
We'd love to stay there again, but DH has been wanting to try the Polynesian again, so we'll probably stay at the Poly next summer!
