I’ve used DDP for all of my recent trips and I love this option. Have everything paid upfront and set my ADR’s in advance to ensure that I will never have a problem getting a seat, but these “Walk-In’s” (IMO) are ruining the experience for me.

Every time I go to a diner I see some poor family that didn’t plan ahead and can’t get a table. Some get angry and make a scene, causing us to feel uncomfortable. Then you have others that look sad and bring our mood down. If they do get into the restaurant they always seem to be the ones complaining about high prices.

I guess it all depends on your experiences. I haven't really seen too much of this, but I think I can see where you're coming from. And while some people are wising up to the whole ADR idea and not just walking in as much as they used to (or so it seems), there are always going to be walk-ins, and regretfully, that cranky family who thinks that no matter what, a table should be available for them. As with anything you just have to roll with it and not let those select few ruin your magical vacation. :) :wizard:

Well I agree I love the DDP and we've used it on our most recent trips, but to say that people who walk in have ruined dining isn't fair. Maybe they can't afford it, or they decided last minute to eat there. Maybe they have a young child who is starving or exhausted and they just needed some food/refuge from the heat. If it bothers you to see them, then don't look at them! :thumbsup2

:lmao: :lmao: I am so used to hearing complaints about how the DDP has ruined the food at disney, this really made me laugh. I love the DDP and am getting my popcorn ready for this thread! popcorn::

Try not to let it ruin your time. Most folks that are'nt in the loop, usually firgure it out real quick after the first day.

Is this a serious post? Why would the lack of planning by others "ruin" the experience of eating a meal at a Disney restaurant? Very odd question.

So let me get this straight. Because some families did not call 180 days out for their ADR's, it is ruining your dinning experience at Walt Disney World? Did you ever stop to think that not everyone who visits WDW reads Disboards and does not know about making ADR's at 180 days out? Also maybe they are not the types of people to make dinning arrangements that far out because they don't know then where they want to eat. My family and I are don't make ADR's 180 days out and if we wanted to make ADR's while in WDW, we have always got them at the last minute.

My advice is don't worry about everyone else and only worry about yourself, just because some families don't know everything about dinning in Walt Disney World restaurants.

Next on the agenda.... 'All those pesky people who insist on going to WDW the same time as I do and forcing me to WAIT in lines for food/rides/shows/bathrooms'

:lmao:

This is almost as good as the fence jumping money saving idea on the budget board!

I have a friend whose ex-husband bought her and their DD tickets to disney with room and DDP. (For July 4th week) He never told her anything about the Dining Plan other than she was entitled to 2 meals and a snack a day.

They were planning on eating a snack for breakfast at the resort and then coming back to the resort for lunch and dinner (AllStars food court).

We talked for about 2 hours when she told me. I immediately took her to some sites with menus and told her to call WDW first thing in the morning.

It's amazing how many people don't know what all is involved in planning a trip to Disney. Hopefully if she walks up hoping to eat at a sit down no one will give her a pitiful look.

:rotfl2: So I immediately got the sarcasm here based on the recent "DDP is ruining dining...." thread, but apparently not everyone did!!!!:surfweb: Too funny.

Let 'em.... just so's they're not hogging all the rooms at Pop Century while I'm there, and they get outta my way when I gotta 'go' :teeth:

Actually it is that third "n" that is ruining "dining"!

:scared1: Oh boy...time to unsubscribe....wasn't it last year about this time that there was an extremely popular thread devoted strictly to criticizing spelling and grammer errors?

And whats up with all the people lining up to get on my Private stretch Limo . I know they look like buses but they are not they are there just to ride my family.

As far as the Walk-ups it's just one more thing for the rude guest to make a sceen about. If it's not that it's their kid shouldn't have to wait in line for the characters and should be able to just run right up in front of everyone else. Or the line jumpers that think they can just FP without a FP.

We call them Enties (entitlement people) and get a big kick out of it.

And yes most people don't relise they have to make ADrs tha6t far in advance and few years ago we didn't have to either. I think the DDP ruined the Dining with the downgrade of food and those thrown into the main places that would have never gone in before. JKOC

My goodness I cant imagine anyone ruining my trip because of that, I mean the scenes they might make are not pleasant but you see scenes in lines, in gift shops etc.

Not everyone wants to plan there vacation down to the last possible second. I find traveling with children that although we have a plan we need some felxibility as well, so sometimes we cancel ADRs and such because we are not where we are suppose to be. I got around it this trip by scheduling most of our TS meals at lunch or breakfast because we knew where we would be, and did CS for dinner wherever. I had 2 days where we needed to head back to the hotel so if I had a dinner ADR I would have been out of luck.

There are so many people who just dont know about the Dining Plan (bc they are staying offsite and etc) and have no idea they need to make ADRs except maybe for CRT.

My son's Physical therapist is surprising her husband this weekend with a day at Epcot. She hasnt been in years but knew the park so felt no need to "plan" but I told her if they want to eat at TS, she better make an ADR and I explained what to do. She said that was all new to her and she would have never known is was that hard to get a TS meal and was so glad I told her. Now I am hoping she can get something even this late date but I am hoping since it is all adults they may be able to be more flexible with their times and can get in.

Not everyone plans like we all do and even with planning it can get crazy IMHO!

I don't know...If I see a family that didn't plan, I don't let it ruin my trip..I actually smile inside and know that because of my obsessive, compulsive planning, WE got to eat at that specific restaurant. I'll nudge my hubby and say "see? Now aren't you glad I made all those charts and planned out our entire trip?" :lmao:
