Is it just me? Another AAA rant...

After all the trouble I've already had with AAA and booking this package, I finally found an agent that I thought would work. So now I haven't heard from her in over ten days, and my deposit is due in just three more days. In my last email to her I asked her what resort we ended up getting (they were all sold out), what the exact cancellation policy is and what address I can send a check to because I didn't want to do a CC transaction via e-mail. These all seem like something that warrent an answer don't they? I would think so... Anyway, that was like 1/27 I think, and I waited until yesterday to send her another email in case she was swamped (I didn't want to seem too pushy). Now I'm getting mad that she hasn't responded- I can't see how it would possible take this long to respond, especially when my reservation is on the line and deposit is due. Am I the only one who has these kinds of problems with AAA?

I have contacted AAA a couple of times and was so unimpressed we never booked with them. Both agents seemed really uninterested in our business and we take pretty big, expensive trips. Oh well, their loss. I can reccomend Small World, I have be satisfied with the service from Leigh.

I used them to buy my tickets to Disneyland several years ago and had a bad experience. Every state works out their own "deal" with Disney as far as ticket prices, packages, etc. are concerned. I started calling in early January and Texas AAA had not made its "deal" with Disney for that year yet. I called every week and when they still hadn't make their deal by the end of January, I called California AAA instead. I ordered my tickets and put the price on my credit card. They didn't arrive and didn't arrive and after a very very long time on the phone it was discovered that the guy I had ordered from didn't work there any more and they couldn't find my order.

Get off the E Mail and get on the phone or get in the car and go to you nearest AAA office. Talk directly with the manager of the local office. I have been a AAA member for 31 years, yet I will only deal with them in person. The Phone is the second best way. Get to the top and demand your money's worth.

How sad that they are so unreliable. I only booked through them because the perks and the very small discount were still something... Now I'm thinking it's not even worth it. I tried all the local offices but they all charge a $25 service fee, which basically cancels out my savings and I already paid for my membership so I don't feel that I should need to pay for that too, mostly since I know that tons of people book AAA for free. I'm dealing with a lady in Chicago, so driving there isn't an option but I will be calling tomorrow.

The Internet attracts suppliers that are looking to provide the least service with the greatest volume. Even companies, like Disney, which do such a great job with personal service on the ground, lose some of that traction when they get into the ether. With notable exception, if you're benefiting from the convenience of asychronous communications with a service provider, then the service provider could be seeking the same benefit, so beware.
