Is it harder to get PSs at table service now that so many have MYW dining?

All those that have MYW dining will now certainly book a table service every day. I know it will be busy this July, but will all those MYW dining reservations really make it hard to get the PS's we want. We always go in July and usually do not have a problem getting the PSs a day or two ahead. We are not trying for any princess meals, just trying to feed 3 teenage boys!
I was thinking of getting the dining myself but will I be too frustrated with not being able to get reservations?
By the way, I received an email from disney reminding me to make my dining plans. I have never gotten one before - this is also making me nervous.
Please, I know I should make my PSs now, but we just cannot work that way. Every time I make them this early, we end up cancelling. I always have a hard time getting them to leave the pool in the afternoon!

I don't know for sure. We are going in 8 days with the dining plan and hope we will get seats at table services! We have 2 character meals reserved and asked the travel agent to get a Whispering Canyon Cafe ps about a month ago. She could only get us an 8 pm one!! I am a little worried cause of that! We will see what happens, hopefully we will not be too upset by how things go. Hate to waste a table service on lunch but that may be our choice and then have the counter service as dinner.

I think that time will tell. I bet that lots of people have bought the dining plan who don't even know what PS stands for...they'll either just show up at the table service restaurants or try to get a PS that morning. (Making a PS for that day is still part of the Unofficial Guide's list of things to do when you first hit the park.) I have this feeling that they are holding later times at some of the park restaurants for those folks.

I think the new dining plan is going to have an immense effect on WDW restaurants. With the MYW plan, people who normally do not eat all of their meals at Disney table service restaurants now will be eating at them for their entire stay. For example, we typically go for eight days, and historically have utilized Diseny table service restaurants maybe four or five times per trip. We have favorite offsite restaurants that we have always frequented.

However, this year with the plan, we have already booked 10 PS. I don't think my family is unique in this respect--this plan will make Disney restaurants MUCH busier than in the past.

I agree that the dining plan with definitely have an effect on the sit down restaurants. Normally we would eat at least once in Baskervilles. And we usually go to Old Town for an olde time photo session and eat there on the weekend. However....WDW is the master at keeping folks on site, and even my family will be spending all of our 9 days right in WDW with our My Way park tickets and the My Way dining option! This will be our first time staying the entire time on WDW property - and will be making all of our PS at the 90 day mark.

We haven't had any additional trouble, and we're always calling up last minute for PSs, being locals. But then, we don't do a lot of the extra popular ones - character meals, things like that.

We called for Boma for this weekend three weeks out and had plenty of choices of times. We may or may not do a sit down lunch at Epcot on Saturday and are just planning on playing it by ear.

I've been able to change and adjust many of my PS for the last week of April.

I did not find it hard to get any of my choices, when I started booking at the 90 day mark. We have 5 character meals, fantasmic at MM, and 4 other TS for our 9 day stay.

I have been trying since the 90 day mark to get PS for after 5:30 at several restaurants for our party of 7. It has been extremely difficult. I still haven't been able to get LTT at MK or 50's Prime time or Sci-Fi at DS.

In years past, I was able to make all my PS with one call, usually getting the time I preferred within a 20 minute timeframe. This year I have already called 4 or 5 times and even switched my park plan based on availability.

So I guess, IMHO it has impacted the PS process greatly. I still haven't given up and will try back at the 30 day mark. :flower:

We'll be there in July (the first week!) and have made PS for all our sit down meals on the plan as we've heard that people get turned away without them if it's busy enough. I don't want to waste my credits! I definitely think that the restaurants will be busier with the plan. Also, when I made my reservations on the phone with CRO, the CM asked if I wanted to be transferred to dining to make my PS's. So people who do not know what a PS is are likely getting educated by the CMs. I can't wait either. Everyday I get more antsy :flower:

I think it will have an impact as more and more people realize what a PS is. I made mine every day at the 90 day mark so we wouldn't be left out. I've even changed a few around and so far so good. We like at least one lots of times two sit down meals a day so I always plan in advance. Who wants to be looking for a place to eat in the heat and humidity of July with three hungry kids - not me!

I made a PS for Le Cellier this morning at 8am, 90 days out and they told me they only had 2 seatings left, one for 5:30 and one for 8:30. I was pretty suprised by that!

Arrangements made for our trip at end of May.Sounds like WDW is going to be one busy place this summer. :goodvibes

My DU agent is currently making my PS arrangements as I am within the 90 day window this week. He's doing them every couple of days as each one hits the 90 days.

He has been able to get all my times within 15 minutes of my requesteed times. I'm not doing any of the very high profile meals though, more like Boma, Kona, Concourse, Chefs de France etc.

I just looked and noticed I now have my PS for Le Cellier in 90 days - 6.40pm. I requested 6.45 so that's pretty good :goodvibes !

Tomorrow is my Fantasmic PS day, probably get a silly time for that which will need to be changed later.

I would think that MYW will increase PS's. It'll become even more beneficial to call close to that 90 day mark for best choice of times.

I just called today to make our PS for two weeks from now. I had no problems getting the places and times I wanted except for Liberty Tree Tavern. I booked:

Sci-Fi (lunch)
Alfredos (late lunch)
Chef Mickeys (breakfast)
Crystal Palace (dinner)
O'hanas (dinner)
Cape May Buffet (breakfast)

Ok, I am one of the newbies, give it up, what is PS's? I just assumed it was reservations, is there more to it?

tigertam,

Check out www.allearsnet.com for the complete run-down.

1. Click on Dining
2. Scroll down and look on the left side margin.
3. You'll see a Priority Seating FAQ.

Enjoy! I LOVE looking at all the menus. Anticipation and planning is half the fun of a WDW vacation. :goodvibes

What exactly is fantasmic and is it worth it??

and Ohanas is it basically just skewered foods.
Concerned about my 6 yr old who has taste issues
and food sensitivity
but would enjoy the interaction there

Thank you Pennyplanner!

My travel agent was speaking with me yesterday. He wants me to make my decisions now on what PS's I want so he can start making them. Our Disneymoon isn't even until September.
