Is it ever a bad idea to do Soarin first (no FP), then get FP for TT?

What's it like to be at EPCOT at opening and going straight to Soarin first with no FP? And then getting a FP for TT and ride that next. I don't want to waste all morning at Soarin in standby. However, we don't have a full day for Epcot and want to ride only Spaceship Earth, Soarin, and TT. Then the rest of our time in the countries. Don't judge, but we like to always start in Mexico. So it's logical to ride Soarin first, then TT (with FP), then head over to Mexico, go counterclockwise around the countries. We have an ADR for 1:30 in France, then head out and stop at Spaceship Earth (with FP) on the way out.

Tonight is when I book my FP+ so I need to get this figured out. Will this work for Soarin as standby first?

Knowing how we are, we will get to Epcot by opening, but probably won't be at the front of the lines.

TIA!

I was wondering the same thing. We are hoping to get Soarin after opening in the stand by line...if no one responds...write back and let me know how it went please!!!

We're not going until December. Tonight is my FP+ selection night. lol

Oh! Haha! I guess if no one replies...I will be the one letting you know! lol We are going this month. :) Hopefully someone replies!

Mine is tonight too. This is essentially our plan for EP as well but we'll be entering from the International gateway. Heading to Soarin SB queue and then TT with FP. No idea what to do with the other 2 FP's...

We always get there before rope drop and head to Soarin' first thing and ride standby. The wait's not bad at all if you get there quickly so we ride that way first and then ride with FP later. Works out great for us and our kids.

You should be able to ride Soarin' with little wait if you get there fairly quick after RD.

Good luck with your FP+ selections tonight? :thumbsup2

We have done that scenario several times. We get there at rope drop and hustle to Soarin'. We can usually get on within about 15 minutes.

On the other hand, TT has single rider so you could FP Soarin'. Or do Soarin' first and then do TT Single Rider.

We have FP for SOARIN 9:15-10:15. I'm wondering if we could scoot to TT first and make SOARIN by 10:15?

We have done exactly this, the past two trips--in July, for Epcot morning EMH (we're talking perfect storm, crowd-wise). It worked like a charm both times. We were through Soarin in the first 20 minutes and I was tempted to jump in line immediately after, because the wait time was still manageable.

Go for it!

Frankly I think it's six of one, half a dozen of the other. The other option would be to get a FP for Soarin and ride Test Track in the single rider line, which is usually pretty short. The upside to this is you won't have to rush to make rope drop. The downside is that you won't sit together on Test Track and you will skip the vehicle design room if you use single rider. If you know you will have no problem making rope drop, then I'd do Soarin first followed by a FP at TT.

Kenny the Pirate is a big advocate of hitting Soarin' at RD...but of course the faster you hustle the shorter your wait will be.

The only time I would recommend Soarin for standby is exactly at RD. After they start letting in the FP+ people (9:15 am), it really bogs down the standby line making it move painfully slow. We got to Soarin at 9:10 (no FP) and the line was still manageable. However, once we finished the attraction, the line was at 45 mins already.

I would normally do single rider Test Track after Soarin where I have been able to walk-on (or less than 5 min wait) several times before 10:00 am and save my FP for Test Track or Soarin later in the day when lines are really long for a re-ride opportunity.
