is it easy to split a resort stay?

Just wanted to know how easy it is to split a resort stay?

IMHO Disney makes it very easy. We just pack our stuff, call Bell Services, and they will take it to the new resort. Then, we hit our park for the day and when finished, go check in at the new resort. Your luggage is there by afternoon. The only time it gets complicated is with the dining plan or if you go for free dining.

Super easy. We do it all the time and prefer it. We have MK days and Epcot/DHS days depending on where we stay. We either pick AK for the resort change date, or we take our time and use that as a pool day at the new resort.

DDP can get a bit messy on the resort change date if you have dining for both reservations. But we usually just have ddp for the first and OOP for the second half.

Only issue is the luggage doesn't get there till later.

As far as the logistics of changing resorts or rooms, Disney makes it easy. Call bell services in the morning and they will transfer your luggage to the new resort. It will take until mid to late afternoon and you will have to be in your new room to call for/receive your luggage.

As far as booking the split stay, Disney considers split stays to be 2 separate reservations so it will require 2 deposits and if you're considering the dining plan (paid or free) for both stays, there are ticket and length of stay requirements.

Only have done split stay at DL. The dinning plan there is no grat shakes so we didn't use it. 2 questions,

1. How does it become difficult? and,

2. Even if I book through Disney and deal with a CM will there still be a problem. Considering the amount of split stays I read about you would think Disney would have a system in place to deal with this. :cool1:

It's easier if you do a room only discount rather than free dining.
You would need two deposits as OP mentioned, also, if you're purchasing trip insurance-you'll need that on both reservations & essentially have to pay it twice.
I did this on a previous reservation, but the CM tried to split the tickets-ex. 3 days of tickets on WL ressie & 3 days of tickets on BC ressie. Tickets are cheaper the longer you stay. There is 2 options. You could buy them separately from a discounted (reputable place) or if you're staying for 6 days, put the tickets on the first reservation.
Also, if you had FD, you would have to also purchase 2 days of tickets on the 2nd reservation to make it a package, but u will not be using these tickets, therefore, you would have them for your next visit. Make sure they don't get activated. It gets quite expensive if you're using FD so a RO discount is the better cost effective way.
