I am looking into rentins a scooter for my mother for our Disney trip in December:woohoo:. She is getting older and has artritis in the hip and cannot walk/stand for long periods of time. She has never used a scooter before. Which would be eaisier for a beginer? She is not pooh sized if that makes a difference. TIA

A 4 wheeled, in my opinion will probably be better. I watched my mom make a turn and tip over the 3 wheeled one she used on one of our trips. You should also take her to Walmart and let her practice before you arrive, so she has a little bit of experience, because they can be difficult to manuver, especially in a crowd.

A 3 wheeled one can turn a little sharper, but as Suzanne mentioned, it may be less stable. Think of it like comparing a tricycle with a wagon. With 4 wheels, it's very hard to tip over. With 3 wheels, if you turn too sharp, it can tip. For most people, it may not make that much difference.

Practice at stores is a great way to get ready. If she feels comforable driving one of those huge ECVs, the smaller rentAl ones will be a snap.

I have to agree with the others on this one that a 4 wheeled would probably be the best for your Mom.

I have almost tipped my three wheeled a couple of times, but I can put my feet down and catch myself. A lot of older people don't have the reflexes to be able to do that.

Well, she probably won't be able to do "donuts" (in a SAFE area, with the approval of and for the entertaiment factor for a couple of CMs who shall remain nameless in a park which shall also remain nameless :rolleyes1) with a four-wheeler, but it is more stable.
