Is it difficult to get a week in the World Passport Collection?

I've never tried before but it seems you would have to be lucky to get a specific week at a specific place in the World Passport Collection. Logistically, I assume someone who would own at the resort your trying to get and the week your trying to get must be trying to trade their week to get somewhere else. Is that somewhat correct?

You're right in that it is one in/one out. But it's not a direct exchange, so they don't have to be looking for your week/resort. It is tough to a degree, esp if you want the top resorts at peak times. But it's not impossible if you plan at least a full year out, preferably two. And if you get educated on your specific choices and risks.

At any given time, MS has a small selection of exchanges "in stock" for an instant match. If you're just looking for a fun trip with no preconceptions, you can have a conversation with them and see if something strikes your fancy. (We did an instant match for the Marriott at Williamsburg.) Even then, I'd recommend starting as many months ahead as possible.

I traded to Royal Mayan in Cancun. We put in for it about a year ahead of time, and I asked for either of 2 weeks and any of the 3 adjacent Royal resorts. We got our trade in a couple of weeks.
