Hi. Our first Disney cruise is on the Wonder this July. We have sailed Celebrity & Carnival before & never had a problem securing a table for 2.
We will be eating at the late/second seating on the Wonder.
Do you think it will be difficult getting our own table?::yes::

I dont think they even have table for 2 other than in Palo. Maybe you will luck out though and your tablemates won't come to dinner :)

You're right...I think that the minimum is four. It's possible that you might not have someone else sitting with you, but not probably if it's a busy season.

The tables are sized for 4, but we have been by ourselves (2 of us) at a table for 4 several times. On other occasions, we've been seated with other "2 people" groups. If you wish to be alone, just contack DCL (or have your TA do it if you used one). They will do everything possible to accomadate you. Realize that July is busy season....but I've never heard of such a request being refused.

We just returned from the Magic, we were seated at a table for four. The other couple never showed up(the invisible Linda and Carlos), so we were alone at our table. We were a little disappointed because we have always enjoyed dining with strangers who became friends. Missed you, Treker and zyezye!!!!!!!!

We requested to be alone, but we were with another couple. While it didnt ruin the cruise for us, it did make our dinners less enjoyable than they could have been. It also made Palo that much better to be alone. ;)
We were able to get a table for 2 on the rinky dink Big Red Boat so it really surprised me that something as nice as DCL doesnt have at least a few tables for 2.

In 2 weeks, we'll be on our 4th cruise. Once, we were at a table for 8, then 4, then 6. I like the tables for 6 or 8 best, although the other couple we were with at the 4 person table were WONDERFUL, I think sitting with one other couple that were annoying would ruin my cruise. At least with 2 or 3 other couples, you don't "have" to deal with people you don't want to, or at least there will be others to share your misery!! ;-)

I think a lot of American's have a problem with "European" dining....we had lunch in Germany in Epcot one time where they sat a guy eating alone with a woman with 2 small children. When we got there, we assumed they were together...makes for some interesting speculation when the guy gets his check and leaves!!!

Something else we noticed at the table for 6 on the DCL.....my dh and I were the only couple at our table that weren't DVC members. I sent Keith to the DVC presentation, since I had a spa treatment scheduled for the same time, and he was sitting next to a guy who's wife sent HIM to the presentation and THEY were the only non-DVC members at their table, too! Seems like Disney sets people up when they set people up for dinner!!!

Last year on our back to back cruise on the Magic, as the ship wasnt full, we sat on our own at a 4 persons table and an 8 person one. Nice though it was, having been married for almost 30 years, we dont "need" time to ourselves! Also, other guests must have thought we had some dreaded disease!!!This year we were seated with 6 others, and it was lovely to hear about their towns and families, etc.,Three of them were Disney workers, so got lots of gossip too!!! Shall definately ask for large table next time. Besides, I can always chat to DH back home! Nat:Pinkbounc

We've sailed DCL twice, once on our honeymoon and once for our 5th anniversary. Both times were early January and the ships were not full to capacity. Both times we ate at the later seating, which wasn't full. And both times we requested a table for two.

And guess what -- both times we were seated with another couple and told there was no way we could be moved or seated alone.

We love DCL, but this was the one thing we were very unhappy about. It's hard to be romantic with stangers at the table.

That said, we adore Palo! Romantic, fantastic wait-service and the most amazing food. The best meal I think I've ever had!

We cruised in January. We had a table for 8, but only the three of us were there. It was strange sitting alone at that big table every night. There was no one else scheduled to be seated with us. It's not like they just didn't show up. Most of the families had tables to themselves. It would have been nice to have shared with someone. The families at the tables around us were nice and we would all talk across the aisles. Hoping for good tablemates next trip.:chat:
