Is it December Yet?? Cancelled with a Heavy Heart!

:lmao: I can only imagine!! :rotfl2:

Oh, I bet that was busy!!! :scared:

Example in point. We paid off our van and when we did we overpaid by over $500. Two weeks later no notice what so ever. I called them yesterday because I want my money $500 is a lot of money to me. It may not be to them but it is in our house. I know you understand. I got yada yada'd so I kept her on the phone until I got an exact date. Yes, yes, Michele is not always nice.:smooth:

Good for you for staying diligent. I would be if they actually let me talk to someone DOING our file. $500 is a ton for our household too!! Glad you got it resolved!

The thing that always gets me about the government is the fact that if you owe them money you better get it to them immediately.

Yes, it is like that here too! If you owe them, you never stop hearing about it. If they owe you, you practically have to beg them to send it to you.

I just don't understand why it was closed out......and the frustration of not knowing why and wondering how long it will take to find out just adds to the stress. We should have had the money long before now. Last year H&R Block left out the most important form from the returns.....but this year, we went over everything & included copies of everything with both 2009 & 2010, just so we wouldn't have any problems. We finalized & had the money at 26 weeks, 10 weeks after they notified us that the form was missing. We're at 21 weeks with no end in sight now. :sad1:

Maybe they sent out a check and that's why it's closed? And maybe it got lost in the mail? That just doesn't sound right. You think they'd wait for it to be cashed before closing down the account or something.

Thank you. I am the immovable force when I want to be.

Oh I like the check is in the mail idea!!

It will be weeks before I hear from them.....very annoying!

The screen would show that a check was processed.....it just shows it being closed. Which makes me think, they sent out a letter needing something from us & we didn't respond back in the 30 day time frame. Last year, we got one of those letters. But, we never got a letter, other than the one that stated the 2009 had been done & the carryforward amount was recorded to 2010. I've looked that letter over & over to make sure I didn't miss something since it's exactly 30 days prior to the closing date on the 2010. It's just weird!

I like that idea too if it hadn't been almost 2 mths already....... :crazy2:

Boo!

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with all this mess with the IRS. I wish someone in an authority position would just call you and not leave you hanging as to what is going on. I hope you get a call or a letter quickly so you know what is going on.

Thank You! I wish they would let me know right away what the hang up is.....but that's not the IRS's way. If I owed them.....it would be a different scenario. I'm sure I won't hear anything for a couple weeks. Hopefully this is a quick fix & we see that money in the next 2 months.

Laurie -

You've probably mentioned this 150 times in your Pre-TR and I somehow missed it, but it just dawned on me today that you will be at WDW in time to see the New Fantasyland/Fantasyland Forest, including the Beast's Castle and the Be Our Guest restaurant (which I guess would have to be somewhat decorated for the holidays)! The design and decor inside the restaurant look amazing! I wish we had a Beast's Castle in Disneyland!

It's funny - I was reading Michele's "$500 example" above, and I was thinking that financial goofs and mistakes - whether they're made by the IRS, the grocery store, a hotel, a restaurant or wherever - always seem to happen to the people who are really hurting and who cannot afford to lose any money at all.

I mean, yes, everyone will say that money is a big deal and that they can't afford to lose it, but at the end of the day there are technically some people who could afford to lose $500 (just to use that amount as an example) - or $50, or $100 - and it wouldn't hurt them at all.

But the people who really need the money seem to always be on the receiving end of some kind of mistake!

And yes, I am including myself in that too! I don't have 2 nickels to rub together, and when people screw up the numbers and end up charging me more (it's never less; it's always more!) or not paying me when/what they are supposed to pay, it hurts!

I am the sort of person who will stand there and argue with a cashier at the grocery store if they try to charge me for an item that I have a FREE coupon for - that happened to me earlier this year. I had 3 items that should have been 100% free because of 3 complimentary item/promo coupons I got from the manufacturer - and I even showed the cashier how they should be credited and applied to the items - and those fools were still trying to charge me! I would not leave the checkstand until that cashier found a way to get my total down to where it was supposed to be.:rotfl2: She grumbled and scowled and made it look like I was a cheap customer trying to get away with not paying what she mistakenly thought I owed. She even snarled, "How much do you want to pay?" I said, "It's not about what I WANT to pay. It's about being incorrectly charged, and you not wanting to cancel the order and go back to ring the items up the way they should be rung up!"

So, when I got home, I sent an e-mail complaining about the cashier and her attitude, and I explained step by step how my items should have been free and where exactly the cashier made the mistake.:rotfl2:

Needless to say, if someone somehow makes a mistake and underpays me/incorrectly charges me, I am very tenacious (and relentless). I can't afford not to be!

You keep at those IRS people, Laurie! I know it will get worked out eventually, but I am praying that it gets worked out in time to make this trip come together!:goodvibes

Yes, we're excited to see what we can of the new Fantasyland......if it's open when we go, we'll check it out.

The beast's castle & the Be Our Guest restaurant is definitely on the radar. I have a dinner at the Plaza Inn that I'm willing to drop if we get lucky to get an ADR there. They haven't announced a date yet, just late August when they'll start taking ressies.

Can't wait to see it!!!

As for the IRS situation. It affects those of us where every penny counts, it's an annoyance to people who aren't living paycheck to paycheck as tightly as us.....but it happens to them as well. I just am worried that our main way of exchanging conversation is going to fall on snail mail. That's really gonna take some time! Between this & the inheritance, I'm gonna be on the edge of my seat........we know both is coming (well at least we hope they are).....just don't know exactly when.....and the clock is tickin'.

Ok, so I think my family has gone crazy........we're actually looking at a road trip. (from Oregon to Florida!!!) :scared1: We enjoy road trips, but this would be like a 5-6 day road trip!! :crazy2: We'd fly home......now this is just a lot of talk right now......but just wondering what you're all thinking as you read this. BE HONEST!!

Honestly? I could not do it!! By the time we got there I would be smoking again and would probably not be sober. Well, maybe not quite that bad but it would be bad enough.

We're more concerned about my fibro acting up. I could get to Florida & not be able to move. But the thought of driving part of Route 66, & seeing states we'll probably never see. Stopping in Baton Rouge & New Orleans (a real bucket list item there!) There's some exciting thoughts on doing the road trip.....but also adding time & gas & motels & meals, etc. Could end up running more than flying.

Oh gosh I hadn't thought of that. That is a long drive for sure, is it better when you get out and walk around every so many hours? I think that when our kids were littler and still got along that might be a fun ride. Now I think I would stay home.

:lmao: I think it would be fun, but I think it might be tooooooooo long of a road trip. We'd be exhausted before we even started the "vacation" part.....lol

It's WAYYY too late clearly and I'm confused - lol! If you road trip there and fly home, where does that leave the car you road tripped with?? :scratchin

We would rent a vehicle that's way more comfortable than our crappy mini van. I wouldn't even consider a road trip if I had to use my van. (especially since my air conditioning broke on it right after it turn 2 yrs old......blah)

This would be my concern. I think the road trip sounds awesome if you weren't then going to be running around Disney for a week! Jay and I used to drive down from New York ... much shorter but still tiring. We would spend the first night at a cheap hotel just to rest up and then check into Disney the next day.

If you do it, flying home is the way to go. The drive home after the Disney trip would be killer! We took the train home from Florida one year and that seemed eternal. Last year when Andrew and I took the train down though it was really fun. The anticipation.
