I'm glad you figured out a way to work AKL into your itinerary so that you have to go there. From what I've seen, their edible holiday display is one of the most interesting ones! I would have even suggested that if you were not doing the Boma meal to make sure to stop in AKL at some point on your AK park day - just to be sure you saw it for 5 minutes.
Now I have a question. We are all, of course, crossing our fingers that the IRS will come through for you - and most importantly, that they will come through in time for you to solidify all of your plans and start paying for things!
I know we don't want to think of this scenario at the moment - and I am still expecting everything to fall into place for your WDW trip because it just has to happen - but what IF the IRS doesn't come through in time to make the WDW trip happen and to book flights, etc., but they send you the money later on (which is what happened last year)? And let's assume that the other money you are expecting does not come through yet.
Would that mean that you might consider bringing the family to DLR for a holiday trip if all else fails? Of course, part of the whole miracle of this WDW trip was that it was, in some ways, going to be a cheaper trip than a trip to DLR. So a DLR trip may not exactly be less expensive in any way, and there are not as many things to do at DLR for the holidays as there are at WDW, but, as you well know, you don't need to have things planned and booked nearly as far in advance for DLR as you do for WDW.
So if it is looking like things are down to the wire for WDW and it's going to be too late to book things, but the money comes through a bit later - would you try for a DLR holiday trip, or would you just skip the holidays at any Disney park entirely and plan your Disney trips for next year?
