i want to take my kids and wife down there but i was wandering if i could get an idea of what to expect?crowd wise

The crowds this year were larger than previous years due to a few factors:
many postponed trips planned in August and September due to the hurricanes, Charley and Frances. There seemed to be heavy crowds around the Columbus
day weekend, days prior and after. You can count on larger than normal crowds
each year around this time. In addition, the food and wine festival is gaining in popularity. Local residents flock to Epcot on weekends and more vacationers
are picking this "off season" time to come down. Bottom line, October with the exception of Columbus day weekend is a great time to go. Weather is near perfect and the crowds are manageable. Pending any weather abnormalities
like last year, you should be in good shape. BTW, we're already booked for F&W
at the BCVs for 10/23 - 10/29!
:umbrella:

October is my favorite time of year to go. The crowds smaller and the weather is absolutely gorgeous! The weather is still warm enough for the waterparks. One thing to remember is that the parks close earlier than other times of the year. That can be a good thing if you are wanting to have time to relax. Can also be a bad thing if you are a disney junkie like me and have to catch every attraction!

I think October is hit or miss due to a lot of recent conventions and school trips...but still great weather wise and crowds are still minimal on the average

My husband and I went last year in October(12th to the 19th). We both said never again. It was extremely crowded and humid. We just came back from WDW 2 weeks ago and we were so happy we went at this time because it was light crowds at every park.

We've been going each October, keeping away from the Columbus Day weekend, and have had great luck. We take advantage of EMH then get to another park either for or after lunch. Haven't experienced any really long waits, or any annoying groups others have mentioned (Pop-Warner cheerleaders, South American teens, etc.).

I'm also interested in taking a trip in October next year. What weeks in October are the best to go? :D

We were there the first week of October 2004. The weekdays were great, low-to-medium crowds and lovely weather. The weekend was a disaster. Huge crowds everywhere. There were even lines for the TTA and El Rio del Tiempo.
