To sell tickets on Ebay for more than you paid?

I just got my Dave Matthews tickets in the mail. I was joking with DH saying I was going to sell them on Ebay and make some money. Anyway, is that against the law? If so, there are a lot of criminals on Ebay:earseek:

But seriously, is it?

I think there are laws for each state as to how high the bidding can go. What state are the tickets for?

If they are close enough to me, I'd be glad to take them off of your hands. As my name states, I love Dave Matthews Band.

I think it depends on the state you buy/sell in. Alot of Ebay sellers get around such laws by including a gift of such and such value. (I've never sold tickets, but I have looked for some.)

IloveDMB.... they are for Hershey Park in PA. I'm not really going to sell them, I was just joking with my DH. He is the one who said he thought it was against the law.

Heck, I had a hard enough time getting them.

I have HEARD (don't quote me on this!) that you can resell them for up to 10% above actual price. However, if you take a look at some of the tickets up there-it doesn't seem that rule is followed.

in NYyou can't sell them for more than face value. that's why, if you need tickets to events in NYC, all the local ticket brokers are across the river in NJ.

I had tickets to the Backstreet Boys and tried to sell them below cost and was almost arrested for "scalping". (DUH...on me)

Basically as it was explained to me, only the vendors are allowed to sell the tickets for 'events'. I do think you can sell sports tickets here (MO) however.

I am sure it varies state to state or maybe even county to county.

Were you near the venue? Almost everywhere it is illegal to resell tickets within a certain distance of the venue. So if you're ever waiting on line to get in and you see people walking up and down asking if anyone needs an extra ticket-DON'T buy them, as you can also get in trouble.

Yes, I was. But I *thought* since it was below the asking price I was Ok. Well I learned my lesson.

I bought a recipe on ebay that just happened to come with a couple of Chris Rock tickets, so it can be done.
