Is it a bad idea to cruise in June/July (weather)?

Hi. I have never cruised or vacationed in the bahamas in june/july.
How is the weather for these months? I found that it is the rainiest month in Nassau! Does this mean it is a waste to go on a cruise? I figured it would be better to go on a cruise before hurricane season, early June, but i dont want it to be too rainy to enjoy it. My other time to consider would be October, but that's prime hurricane time right?

I think it is hit or miss those months. DH and I went on our honeymoon in July 2008 and the weather was perfect. We didn't have any bad weather or anything.

It can rain in the Bahamas at any time of year. The good thing is that it doesn't usually last all day, it's a quick rain, like in Florida.

We've done the majority of our cruising in June, and also July, and the only thing I notice is that it's hotter and more humid in July, but we spend all day in the water, so it's no big deal to us.

If you do land activities, you can pack a small poncho or even travel umbrella...but usually the rain will lessen the humidity a little and make the day more bearable, so I welcome the rain.

I probably wouldn't go during "high hurricane" season. We usually don't go after the first of September, and then not go again until December.
I'd much rather choose June or July though.

hurricane season is fron June till Sept - it's rare to have one in Oct since the water is cooler - the warm water is what feeds the hurricane.

We've crusie in Aug a couple times (which is really prime for hurricanes) & have lucked out, we did have to miss a port on one because the ship had to slow down & let a hurricane pass.

For us the summer is really the only time to go since we have kids. We did a Bermuda cruise in Oct from NJ & the water was pretty rough ( I know that's not a direct comparison since it's more North).

Like someone else pointed out it might be rainy but it's like FL where it rains a little in the afternoon & then clears up.

Actually, I prefer September and October. The ship won't go into a hurricane or anywhere near on, so you might go to an "alternate" port.

I have ONE experience cruising in June and one in July. Both were hot and humid to the point of being very uncomfortable...so if you're not spending most of your time in the water, you'll be indoors.

We cruised last year at the end of August / beginning of September and had amazing weather. We were lucky. I think it had to do with El Nino. If I had the option, I'd probably pick June or October over July. Unfortunately we're somewhat limited with one child in school and a budget too small for Spring Break or Christmas.

After 4 cruises in October and 2 in July, I would vote for October. If it was a matter of cruising in July or not at all.... cruise please!

Cruised June 2009. Perfect weather. Much better than Oct, Jan, or Feb weather.

Technically yes hurricane season lasts that long, however statistically speaking most hurricanes are done by Sept there are relatively few in Oct/Nov & even if they form in those months, most don't reach land they kind of live in the Atlantic & shoot up toward Bermuda or hit the NE coast of the US (I'm sure you can quote me ones that hit in those months but like I said the % is much lower than those that hit in Aug)

I lived in Houston for 10 years believe me I remember that hurricane preparedness & how pretty much in Sept we all breathed a sigh of relief

The other thing to keep in mind is how crowded the ship will be & how much you want to deal with that aspect. With summer vacation the ship is more crowded in June -> Aug. I beleive the cruise prices actually go up a little during that timeframe too - but I'm not positive on that one

We like June sailing. Not quite HOT!!, but the water is still warm enough. We ussually go early June, but have gone as late as the 4th of July. We have never been in the Fall though - so I can't say one is better then the other.
