Is hot butterbeer now year round?

From what I have heard, it will be a year round item. It was good on a cold day but I liked the frozen better. I didn't try the Butter Beer Ice Cream but tried the Chocolate Chilli and Apple Crumble and they were both very good.

That's what they were saying on our recent trip.

I really liked it. But a whole cup is just too much for me. my aunt and I shared a cup which was nice but when we poured half into another cup the topping refused to be shared. Just clunked out into the other cup. I'd love a half serving.

We were there in November when it was being added to the various locations, and the woman at the "bar" in Three Broomsticks said it's permanent and year-round now. It's even been added to the menus.

We LOVED the hot butterbeer and wished we could have had it earlier in our trip! They served it in about a 12 oz cup, so about the size of a cup of coffee. The weather was very cold while we were there, so this was a nice option to get our butterbeer fix without holding a cold/frozen cup. The hot version was our favorite, followed by cold, then the frozen. The ice cream had a primarily vanilla taste and not much of a butterbeer taste, in my opinion.

Smaller servings would be really nice. I wound up throwing 1/4 of my frozen butterbeer away last trip, and it was hard to even finish the 3/4 I did drink. Then after that, I had no desire to try any of the other fun things you can only purchase in the wizarding world because I was too overloaded with sugar. Might have to skip the butterbeer next time so that ice cream at Florean Fortescue's doesn't sound nauseating.

We had the opposite opinion when we visited the studio tour in England ( leavesden studios where the films were shot) we found the cups way too Small and were saying that we wished they were the same size as orlando. The hot version would have been lovely on a January day in England.

Ain't that the truth :thumbsup2

I certainly wouldn't complain about portions being too big in Universal......if they had been smaller other people would be complaining Universal was charging too much for a tiny portion and ripping them off..........::yes::

Can't win situation.

I wish they literally had a half serving. Not that the serving be made smaller, but to have an option. Like a half pint of beer in England and Ireland.

As it is I just take sips from DH and DS's butterbeers now. Sharing with my aunt was a novelty. And I get nothing if my guys get a cold butterbeer. I do not like that version.

We didn't do the tour in England but everywhere else I loved serving sizes there and in Ireland. Worked better with my stomach than american serving sizes!

I hear you Bumbershoot.

We always feel a bit ripped off in this country with things like sodas......in restaurants it's usually by the glass......so if you pay say the equivalent of $4 or 5 for a small or medium size soft drink.......you don't usually get free refills......that's another drink added to your check....it adds up.

One of the things we love about America is the free refill in most places. It's not the norm over here......

Sorry went OT :)

Has anyone tried adding a little something extra to the hot butterbeer to make it um a little more authentic?

I don't know what you would add since I think it's a non alcoholic drink in the books.

Don't the kids drink it in the books? It's been a long time since I have read them. But I remember Hermine getting the foam mustache

I always had the impression they were slightly alcoholic based on the house elves getting drunk from drinking it.

I can't picture the taste of it with booze in it. Of course, I have a hard time drinking even beer at themeparks because the combo doesn't make me feel good. Epcot is ok for it because once I'm in intl showcase (mm Canadian beer and grand marnier slushies) I'm done with rides. But elsewhere it's difficult.

Not to mention, unless I take the hot butterbeer all the way to the hotel, adding something means smuggling something into the themeparks, and if I were to start to do that, for me, that would mean that I was developing a problem. For me, it would mean bad things. So for me, I wouldn't do that. That's me. Not speaking for others who are more adventurous and physically tolerant of drinking booze in themeparks. Just me! :)

Only served at 3 brooms on IOA side. Was very sweet. Loved the ice cream. You get alot for the price.

We got it from Fountain of Fair Fortune last night in Diagon Alley. It was glorious on a cool(ish) evening. Very sweet, though. I would share next time. It's my new favorite.
