Is Hollywood & Vine THAT bad?

My kids (4,2,&2) LOVE the Disney Junior characters, but I've read mostly poor reviews of this place. Is it worth it for the characters? I'm also considering 50's Primetime Cafe as an alternative.

Thanks!

IMO it has gotten better. It was pretty repulsive the first two times we went. The only reason we went back was because my niece requested it. Ate there in July and it was pretty good. I mean, the atmosphere isn't any different, but the food wasn't bad.

I dont make a decision on reviews posted here. Ever. If I did that I would not have gone to SOA, CRT, or Ohana. Make up you own mind by experience and preference. My opinion.

We had lunch there in November 2015 and it was good. The food was comparable to other Disney buffets I have experienced. It seemed very clean. Character interaction was good and we didn't feel rushed. My kids are past the Disney Jr. phase now (sob), but if they weren't, I would go back.

We ate there is 2013 for lunch and then just a few weeks ago. We liked it much more in 2013.

It was our least favorite meal from a food perspective (we did several character meals) but a favorite for characters. It was clean enough, but the food offerings weren't great. However, my kids loved the characters and it saved us from waiting in the August sun for signatures. We also happened to be eating during the rain that day, so that was luck. I had read the reviews so knew what to expect.

No it isn't that bad. We always find enough food we enjoy and the character interactions are great. I would say it is worth going if the kiddos are into Disney Jr.

Go for the characters and not the food. This place is like just about any other buffet in or out of WDW. It is your typical Golden Corral mass produced, less than average, pre-made food focused on quantity over quality, sitting at a serving station waiting for hoards of people with most stacking it high, wide and deep and repeating the process numerous times in a short period of time. I will admit though, I am not a fan of buffets and much prefer my meals prepared individually and upon order.

It was DH's favorite breakfast of the trip. I thought it was very good for buffet food (I prefer table service). I found it comparable to other buffets. If your child loves Disney Jr, it's a great way to meet the characters without waiting in line.

It was our favourite character buffet last trip. We aren't going to HS on our upcoming trip, otherwise we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

I actually really liked it (April '15). It's a little chaotic but the food was good, and we like good food!

The food was pretty terrible but we turned it into a big dessert party. The character interaction was good for the kids. Just go and enjoy but don't have high expectations. Buffets aren't really our thing, but you will more than likely find something everyone will like

I'm one who doesn't care for Hollywood and Vine, I doubt I will ever dine there again. But that is because DD is a teen now, so we aren't into the characters. If she were little and still into them I would go. It definitely has a "kids running around touching things" feel to it, for me, more so than some of the other buffets for some reason. When DD was one of the kids running around touching things it didn't bother me, but now that I'm not part of that crowd anymore we've moved on. Hope that makes sense! If your kiddos like the characters, you should totally go! :flower1:

P.S. I like the breakfast character buffets best food-wise - but that might just be because I love breakfast. Have fun on your trip!

I took my 6 year old one time waaay back and it reminded me of a really dirty (think corn all over the floor and lots of baby messes) school cafeteria. It was along the lines of just opened cans of food. Fine for kid pallets, so go if you're not expecting gourmet. I've noticed that most people seem to like more bland and basic food so I guess that's why WDW offers so much of it.

I forgot to add that I do really like 50s PTC for the food - the fried chicken is really good! Even with the antics, I don't think it's near as much fun for kids as the character meal at H&V.

We're going next month, have never been. I almost canceled based on reviews on here, but my kids are Disney Jr age and I figure they might not be into it on future trips, so might as well go while they will be excited about it.

Two of my mom friends that visited Disney in the last year highly recommended it to me, so it must not be that terrible! That said, we're going to do 50
s prime time OOP for a light lunch (maybe apps and desserts) and then Minnie's Seasonal Dine at Hollywood & Vine. It seems like dinner gets better reviews food-wise. I just have to see the Christmas outfits :) I can't help myself. My little ones are boys and I feel like the only character they would really be interested in is Jake. I don't think they have ever even seen Handy Manny the show. It would be great if they could bring in something else, like PJ Masks!

We ate there for dinner last year for the Minnie's Holiday Dine and I thought the food was really good.
