Is Hollywood Studios worth a Hopper

Hi, we are visiting in June and wondering if it is worth getting a hopper for HS after leaving MK? We have been to MK several times but this is on the way to a beach vacation and are wondering if the Star Wars things are with it for just 4 hours or so. MK is a must for us. I have two teenagers and an 8 year old and the 8 year old loves Star wars along with my teenage son. We are only staying a few nights and the first one we are planning on Downtown Disney.

thanks

At the moment I wouldn't do HS without having a hopper. Between Star Tours, Launch Bay M&Gs, March of the First Order and nighttime Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular show you can probably do 4 hours (and hit ToT and/or R&RC as well). As for Disney Springs - they'll want to do Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire by ILMxLAB and The VOID (if this is still being offered).

Now if Toy Story Land is open in HS (and the hope is it will be) I imagine a lot of folks will be heading that way. In that case you should be prepared for larger crowds because TSL will draw more into the park.

How many park days are you doing?

Only you can decide if it's worth the cost. Hoppers are pricey, and if you're only going to use them once, it's harder to justify the cost. We love DHS. The four rides are four of our top ten at WDW, and we love the Star Wars stuff. But, for example, if we were buying two day tickets, we'd probably just pick two parks and not hop.

this is only a one day pass for MK and we would have to do HS that same day with a hopper. We are coming in late afternoon /early evening, hanging out at the hotel and maybe doing Disney Springs, then the next day is the only day we have for the parks because the day after we are heading to the beach for a week to meet relatives there. Are we allowed to use fastpasses at both parks in one day, or just the one park? Its an Extra Magic hour morning so we could probably be done with MK by five. I was considering just doing the Disney Springs Star Wars thing but my youngest is only 8, although he meets the height requirement he does not meet the age.

Prescheduled FPs must be in the same park, anything after those can be in other parks. You may find the FP FAQ helpful.

So if it were me and I only had one day I wouldn't hop. I would try to get to DS earlier on your arrival day so you can hit the Lego Store and the Star Wars stuff there, a little shopping then a fun dinner at one of the cool themed restaurants in DS. I would spend the one full day only at MK and do everything there, including a sit down ADR meal somewhere.

That said, I always buy hoppers for our trips and love to hop but I've never been there for shorter than 5 days. To me hopping makes sense when you have more days and it is less costly on a longer ticket.

You can make your FP for one park only but when you use the third FP in one park (MK for example) you can then make a 4th FP in a different park before you exit MK.

Good luck. :darth::chewy:

Thanks, we do have a reservation at 2:30 at the Beauty and Beast castle at MK, I could not get a dinner one, we could possibly do downtown Disney on our last day instead, we cant really change the time we are getting there on arrival date. What other star wars things are at Disney Springs?

thanks! Always open to suggestions

It looks like I could sign up to see The Star wars Character Kylo Ren since I have a Disney Visa, but they only have an 11 am, hmm, too many things to decide. My youngest would love it, but I really wanted to do MK first due to the extra magic hour.

How much more is it to add a hopper to your one day ticket? Maybe the extra $$ is worth it to your family... nothing wrong with that. Do MK for emh and leave late afternoon and hop to HS. You likely could get on Star Tours without a FP, try for your fourth FP on one of the other rides, see the Star Wars fireworks show and do launch bay.

I think it is around 50 dollars a person? I have to doublecheck

Depending on when you will be there the meet and greet runs from 11am-4pm. With the chase card it’s only been a 5 minute wait for us to see Kylo Ren. Chewy and BB8 were about 15-20 minutes.

Based on what you have shared, I would save HS for another visit to avoid feeling rushed and disappointed that you didn't "do" either park well.

My answer depends on if Toy Story Land has opened or not when you visit. If it has opened - that park is going to be A LOT busier and I would not hop to it late in the day as it will be crowded and I doubt you could get a single 4th FPs. If it hasn't opened yet - I think hopping over there around 4-5 pm is a decent idea if the money doesn't bother you you could get all of the Star Wars stuff in - and maybe a few other things.

So - I'd buy just the one day base ticket right now. You can always add the hopper just a few days in advance.

That said - MK really can be an open to close park.....

Thanks good idea

We do it no problem but EVERYTHING there interests us. Last March, I missed quite a bit I wanted to do even though we were there two days.
That's great that you're able to stay busy for two days. You'll have to stop by and say hi next time.
