H&V good and bad reviews - but least expensive for Fantasmic.

Is H&V that teribble ?
Bad food ?
Tables unacceptable ?

We ate at H & V two weeks ago and found it fine. My husband especially enjoyed it for the choice of vegetables. The food isn't gourmet, but we all enjoyed it very much.

DW and I liked it. There is a lot of food to choose from. DW liked that all the deserts were "mini" ones, so you could try a few of them without stuffing yourself or being wasteful.

We ate there in 2004 with Fantasmic, DH HATED it and said he would NEVER go back again.

DW an I have done the Fantasmic Dinner package at H&V twice now and enjoyed it both times. Nothing fancy, typical buffet style foods. Maybe we're just easy to please! :goodvibes

We had lunch there fairly recently (in Oct). I'm sure the lunch and dinner foods are similar. I thought it was rather good. Guess it depends what you're comparing it to. I'm not a big Brown Derby fan so I'd go to H&V if I had to choose one of those.

IMHO MM's has gone downhill and Prime Time is pretty much on the same level as H&V. If given the choice of those 4 I'd eat at H&V or Prime Time.

It was fine, like other said. Not great, but fine.

Could we get more info on that? Why did he hate it? Food bad, not the type he likes???? Any reason for the bad experince? We are going for lunch but just that someone hated it isn't much to go on. Thanks.

We did the Fantasmic Package there in 10/05. The food was horrible. It's the only negative Disney dining experience I've ever had. DH and I literally ate cold chicken nuggets and mac n'cheese from the kids buffet b/c it was the only thing we could get down. We are NOT picky eaters either. The buffet was picked over, messy, and looked something from a highschool cafeteria.

Sorry to be so negative, but it was REALLY bad!

I know that there have been bad review of H&V - but it is one of our favorite restaurants at WDW (are we weird... i don't know...) We have an ADR for H&V next Monday. We always have at least 2 meals there every year, and have never been disappointed. So, as everything, it is personal preference. Hope you have a good experience. :thumbsup2 Only 5 days till we "come home!!" :wizard:

Our party of 8 which included kids, teens, adults and Grandma had dinner here as part of the Fantasmic Dinner Package in August 2005. It was the only restaurant available for the package the night we were at MGM and we were very pleasantly surprised. Aside from the noisy atmosphere (and really at WDW most places are noisy), the food selection was good, everything was fresh and most of our party went back for seconds. I was dying to try the deserts because they looked so yummy but we had ordered a birthday cake for my sisters birthday and it was just too much.

I've heard a few reports about the food being picked over, we must have gotten there early enough that we did not witness this.

By the way, the chocolate cake that I called ahead and ordered was the best cake we had that week...and we had a few since it was my sister's 40th BD, my niece's 10th BD (Yes both of their actual Birthdays) and my sis and bil renewed their wedding vows.
