We owned at VWL, and AKV, but this time we are considering trying GF, it's over 100 points more, wondering if it's worth it?, we are only staying for 6 nights prior to our cruise, we always stay at VWL, and stayed at AKV one time.

Thank you

I think you have to stay there to judge for yourself. There is a certain feel and intimate club-like atmosphere at the GF Villas. I loved it more than I expected! But you cannot get that experience by others telling you; you need to stay there. It is a small, charming, resort with special touches that make it unique. I would go for it just this once and you be the judge! Enjoy your cruise!

There is no way anyone here can tell you if it's "worth it". Suffice it to say that it's a hard place to book if you're not an owner, being the smallest DVC property at WDW.

But is it "worth" an additional 100 points? We've stayed there and had a wonderful stay. But I can honestly say that about every DVC resort at WDW except PBC which we haven't stayed at. To us, no it's not worth that many more points. But for many people, it clearly is. The same way that the Grand Floridian commands a premium price per night if you choose to stay at the hotel.

I love it there, and my family does too. It's a really great resort. Great pools, great service, great restaurants, great extras like the Christmas decorations and gingerbread houses, and the Easter Eggs for Easter. A great jazz band playing in the lobby by the bar, easy access to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. A really good vibe.

I've never stayed at AKV, although I have stayed at AKL- Jambo as a deluxe hotel guest. That was a great experience, too. It was very peaceful having the animals right outside.

Last Christmas we also went over to VWL and saw their Christmas decorations. Very nice and tasteful!

I mostly feel VGF is worth the extra points at Christmastime!

DW and I did a split stay with VGF 1 BR for a few days. It was wonderful. Our villa faced the monorail and I enjoyed waving at the monorail every morning while drinking my coffee. Wish I had bought a big Mickey hand for that waving experience. The beach pool was a delight. The vibe is very different at GF and has to be experienced to see if it's right for you. Our ultimate goal is to stay at every DVC resort, so my recommendation is if you can get a reservation, try it out.

I'm in this dilemma... We want to wow some guests on our next trip... thing is we're getting a 2br and we normally get a studio with the odd 1br so it's a lot more points as a generality.. now thinking of GFV. I so want to try it but I don't know if I want to 'waste' so many points. I need to work out if they're doing a full 10 days with us.

It is to us. For me it's our favourite resort best atmosphere best dining I tell here more than anywhere else

It is absolutely worth every point in my clearly subjective opinion :smooth:. The vibe is so laid back, just a quiet elegance but still very kid centric. And Richard the greeter! And the cappuccino maker in the villas lobby! And the extra super duper toiletries! The list goes on. It's a wonderful place!

I think it is an exquisite property. I loved the studio so much that the high points did not bother me.

In fact, I would choose a studio there over many DVC one bedrooms.
Sounds absurd, but that is how I now feel after experiencing it.

Have a wonderful time.

VGF is my home resort so I am somewhat bias. I am torn between telling you "Of course you should try it. It is the most comfortable resort I have stayed in. The available living space is huge." and "Are you kidding? Heck no!". The former reflects my pleasure staying at VGF while the latter is to reduce the booking competition for "last minute" (withing 7 months). Mind you, unless you are going a particularly dead time, there is almost no chance of getting a studio and little chance of getting a 1 bedroom unless you own there (or rent points from an owner).

we are looking at the end of July for 6 nights, so far I've found 4 of the 6, crossing my fingers the other 2 nights come through!, I'm hopeful, one bedroom lake view!:yay:

We love it! We like most of them, but VGF makes for a great vacation for us, it's elegant, something I don't have everyday at home. We enjoy going over to the GF to listen to the live music at night.

This coming Oct. will be our third stay. We have not had a problem getting in at 7 months in Feb and Oct. We have stayed in 2 bd and 1 bd places but only for a few days since the points are so high.

Love it, love it, love it!

I would say if you are asking that question, that means that you prefer to use your points to stay longer. So I am not sure any view or location would make up for the fact that VGF really eats up the points. For me it is worth the extra points. I loved our stay at VGF. Great views even if it is of the monorail and wedding chapel for standard view, good location and you can walk to the Poly and have two methods to get to MK via the ferry or monorail. Lots of nice restaurants, pool with nearby, water play area. Great views of the lagoon when walking around the resort.

It has great pools, great views, great rooms, great restaurants, and a great location! I couldn't ask for more! For us it is worth it! We have also stayed at AK Kidani (loved the resort, didn't like the location) and Wilderness Lodge (love the resort as well but really like being on the monorail more!) We'll be at Aulani in June for the first time and planning on a Beach club trip next spring so we like to try all the resorts at least once. So far, VGF is our favorite!
