I'm thinking of taking my two kids to six flags great adventure next month. However my ds doesn't reach thee height requirement for the big coasters . He's 6 but he's only 49 or 50 inches tall. I'm a single mom so if he cant/won't ride that means I can't ride eithier. Is it worth it to spend $300 dollars for a day at six flags without riding any of the headliners/coasters? We'll probaly spend the bulk of the day in the kiddie section. My dd9 is adventurous and fearless so she'll be riding all of the headliner coasters solo. I admit ill feel jealous knowing I can't ride too. Is this just a bad idea going with a kid too small to ride the major coasters?

Ill probaly get bored watching them in kiddie land afterawhile . We'll be there all day and night. Were taking the nj transit package which leaves from nyc at 9:00 am and you leave the park at 9:30 p.m.

Should I go or skip it?

I wouldn't bus in, that's for sure - I've done the bus from NYC, I do ride all the coasters, and I was BORED OUT OF MY MIND by the time the return bus came. There is just not that much to do there, in my opinion. I don't go to the water park though. (Doesn't sound like you plan to?) SFGAdv has a decent kiddy section but it isn't going to keep anyone entertained for more than a few hours.

I'd save the trip for when the younger kid can ride the headliners too (if he's the sort who'd want to), or maybe find him a sitter that day and then have a "special day" somewhere with just him another time.

Six Flags Great Adventure is not worth going to without headliners for that another of time. You will run or of things to do and be bored waiting for your bus. Wait til everyone can ride together.

We have a 6 Flags in Lake George, NY. I wouldn't spend $300 to go there especially if you can't do the headliners. Do you have a kiddie park closer to you?

I've thought about doing the waterpark but decided not to. Too expensive. With discounts that would add atleast another $150...not to mention locker rental prices . Too expensive.

Yes I do. We have coney island close by. We can all ride together as a family for around $100.

It is very expensive, and it really doesn't add much "time" to your day for what it costs. The one time I ever went to that water park, it was crowded to an unsafe extent, and also fairly gross, in my opinion.

I'd definitely stick to Coney Island right now, in that case. They did just put in a new roller coaster, so if your older one wants some thrills, there's that. :)

Can you purchase a waterpark only package from the bus company? If so I would do that. The theme park offers a after 6pm pass to waterpark guests for $20. I would not plan to spend all day and night at the theme park alone on any occasion. Its not that much of a good time especially when it is crowded.

I would personally skip the package. I prefer a park local to me that is a kid park, Dutch Wonderland.
