is going for only 5 days worth the trip

We've spent 5 days at WDW several times and always enjoyed it; however, please be aware that if you go at Easter, the crowds are much worse than at other times of the years, and you probably won't get to ride as many rides aas you would during September.

Five or six days is usually all we can afford to go at one time and it's always been worth it! Everyone's given great advice. Don't worry about not having enough time there, just enjoy every minute that you are. None of us are guaranteed anything in this life and if you have your good health and are able to go....go and make some great memories! :D

Sure! DH and I are going next October for 5 nights followed by a 3 night Disney Cruise. We will probably hit all the main parks (one each day), the Not So Scary Halloween Party in MK for a extra late night, and Halloween Horror Nights for one night at Universal. We may even do a water park for 1/2 a day. We will wear ourselves out at the parks and relax on the cruise:)

At the time of year you are going it will be perfect weather to go all day. The pools are heated so you can end the night with a fast swim so you will get to enjoy the resort a little also. I think it is great if you can stay longer but I would rather stay at a nicer resort for a shorter time. Different strokes for different folks.

A Disney trip is magical. Any way you go you can't lose.

I'm probably only going for one day in March due to a reading conference, but that's better than no Mickey Mouse!

Have fun!

Yes, I believe a 5 day trip to WDW is worth it. Last year, I took my fiancee' to WDW for 5 days. (This was his first time, I'd been there before.) We were running around for our entire stay, (by choice!), so he could see almost everything. Five days was enough time to see all four parks, and spend time at downtown Disney. (We did miss Fantasmic though.)

After we got back from that trip, my fiancee' mentioned to me that for his first trip, 5 days was perfect, but he did think that with so much Disney has to offer, that 6 or 7 days would be nice for future trips.

Although I am a resident of Florida (for about a year and a half), we still have to drive about 7 hours to WDW. It's not a matter of just driving across town as some people think when they hear that we live in FL.
Anyway, we go for 4 or 5 day (or shorter) trips to the World. We went for weekend trips when we lived in GA, as well. No trip to WDW is too much trouble or too short a stay, as long as you and your loved ones make memories and have fun. Life really is so very short and goes by so very quickly. Make the most of it, when you can. JMHO.

>>We are thinking about taking a trip to WDW April 9 to April 14 and wonder if 5 days is worth traveling all of the way to Orlando for.

We were going to go in September, but if we only go for five days in April, we would stay at AKL-Savana instead of going in Sept and staying 8 days at a value.<<

I am thinking that April would not be as good as September this year since the dates you are considering encompass Easter weekend. It would be VERY BUSY...also I am wondering what luck you would have in getting an AKL Savanna room at that time and one at a good price.

In September it won't be as busy and I would think you could still do the AKL if you wanted to because of the season difference in price.

Of course this is all speculation on my part but would be worth checking into it.

We have gone probably 6-7 times over Easter and it is very very busy and discounts are hard to come by.

We have gone once in September and got the room at a a rock bottom price (onsite) and it wasn't nearly as busy.

I think I would investigate the pricing for the two time frames.

We've done 5 day trips and 15 day trips and everything in betweeen - all of them were magical! In fact, we're heading back just after Christmas for a 5 day trip. Enjoy!

I say wait till September and stay 8 days.I would definately stay in a Value or Moderate to be able to spend 3 more days there.we always plan for 5 and then when we get there it is just not long enough and stay a couple extra days,it never fails.

We're going for 5 days next April, and for 5 days next December. We find that 5 days are affordable, plus we have two days to rest before returning to work. Works great for us! :)

NO NO NO!!! Don't even think about Easter, not when you have a choice! Don't make your first WDW trip with wall-to-wall people, you'll never want to return. In September, everything is a walk-on, the weather is still hot, the rates are low. You can see everything in the parks in 5-6 days, and have days left to enjoy the pool, the water parks, Downtown Disney. Just plan on afternoon rain, which I guess happens in April too. Whew, that was a close one! Diana

I have been for 5 days, 6 days, 7 days and am going for 8 or 9 days this year. 5 days did not feel like enough time for my family. But it is far better than no days! We would rather stay at a value for longer, but everyone has their own way of looking at this subject. Do note that a Disney Value is still pretty nice (nicer than what we stay on while on 'other' trips). We spend every second we can in the parks. Our first trip we planed to swim and fish and rent boats... HA... we never got the chance. If I really wanted to spend some time out of the parks I would split days (as in spend a few half days in MK and a few in Epcot or whatever parks you want to see this trip spend afternoons at the hotels).

My goodness - 5 days is a luxury we are taking this time, precisely because we are going when it's "nightmare on Main St" season. Both our previous trips were 4 days in the parks.
I think 5 days are enough - the real question as some have alluded to is time of year. For your first trip - fall may be better....but it's hard to wait - we couldn't :teeth:

Is eating necessary for survival?

Yes, any amount of time there is better than NONE.
