We are thinking about taking a trip to WDW April 9 to April 14 and wonder if 5 days is worth traveling all of the way to Orlando for.

We were going to go in September, but if we only go for five days in April, we would stay at AKL-Savana instead of going in Sept and staying 8 days at a value.

Is this your first trip??

I think any trip is worth it. We try not to see everything. We make a list of our most important "to do's" and manage to see most of them. Make your P.S.'s and choose your parks based on when and where you eat so you don't waste time in travel and go have a great time.

I agree with RNMOM, any trip to Disney is worth it. I have been for 3 days and it was definetly worth it. You will love AKL....

If you plan on only going to the four main parks, five days should be enough time to visit. I would recommend that if this is your first time, you buy the Disney offical guide book and study it. Make plans, but be flexible. Have a great time.

Yep, it's worth it. My first trip was for 5 nights, then 6 nights, then 8 nights. I'm going again in 9 days for 5 nights. Just don't try to see it all! WDW isn't going anywhere. You really can't come close to seeing/doing it all. Get a couple of good guide books and make a list of 'must do's'. Have fun planning!!

Like all the others have said - any trip is worth it. ::yes:: It will be a very busy time so just try to enjoy yourselves. You probably won't get to see & do everything. Enjoy the AKL - relax at the pool, it will probably be the best part of the trip.

Plus, if you get as hooked as the rest of us Disney crazy nuts  this won't be your last trip!

Since this will be our first trip, we did plan to only visit magic kingdom 1 day and animal kingdom 1 day and spend the rest of the time enjoying the resort and then on a future trip spend more time at the parks.

What do you think?

If you're planning on returning, I think it is a great idea to only do a couple of the parks and enjoy your resort the rest of the time. We are doing a trip in April...for only 4 1/2 days (the 1/2 day depends on how fast DH drives to get us there) This will be our 5th trip as a family and we still haven't seen or done it all. We know we will be returning so we always try to do our favorites and add at least one or two new things each trip. This trip will finally include a waterpark (shhh it's a surprise for DS10) Any amount of time at Disney is worth the trip!! Go and Have FUN!!::yes::

IMHO, any trip to see the Mouse is worth it. We are going for 5 days in Jan. and are just planning to do our favorite things, like spend a whole day at Magic Kingdom, from open to close!

::yes:: it's definitely worth it even if only do AK & MK. Spending time at the resort & enjoying it will be so relaxing & just as much fun, if not more enjoyable than the days in the parks.

Relax and enjoy AKL. It's a beautiful resort. :sunny:

FOR OUR FAMILY a five day trip is ideal. We soon will be making our third consecutive trip using the same pattern -arrive on Monday, leave on Saturday. Our kids are 6 & 4, so we have found that as the trip comes to an end we reach a point of "diminishing returns". On our upcoming trip we will probbaly spend an extra half day in the parks since we are driving (instead of flying) and will have Ultimate Park Hopper passes. This gives us the option of playing in a park on Saturday morning before starting the drive back home. We always leave WDW glad that we came, sad to leave, and eager to return. I think a big part of that for us is the 5-day length of our vacations.

Have a wondserful, magical trip to WDW. Just four years ago we made our first trip; now we are addicted   ::MickeyMo

This is a great thread!

I am trying to convince DH that a 5 day trip this year is better than taking a 10 day trip every other year which is what our budget permits. We have already been four times and there are certain attractions we need never seen again With a 5 day trip, we can see only what we love since we've tried out everything by now. We can also hit a water park for the first time since the kids have passed their swimming tests at the Y.

DH seems to feel less than 10 days "is not worth it". The kids and I beg to differ and plus our dear doggie would prefer we taking shorter trips too. As much as I adore WDW, by day 9 I am ready to go home.

I would rather take 8 days in a value then 5 days in a moderate or deluxe. Five days is just not enough to see much and isn't worth going there unless it is one of a few trips. We always go 10-12 days twice a year and still find it isn't long enough. I will be the decending voice and tell you to wait until you can go longer.

this is our first visit to WDW, and all we'll have is 5 days...
but we move fast!

When traveling with friends and family (usually a minimum of 5 people), I've always gone at least seven days, because its decision by committee about where we go and what we do and there never seems to be enough time.

This past October I went by myself for the first time and went for seven days, I was moving so fast doing what I wanted to do without having to take a vote that by days 6 & 7 I was spending all day at downtown disney shopping, because I had done everything. :p

This opened my eyes to the fact that short trips were doable when I went solo. They cost less and I can stay in deluxes as opposed to moderates and go more often.

Now I have a May trip planned for just five days.

Of course, this is all just opinions, lol, but my choice would be 8 days in September. I've been to the World at Easter once and didn't really like the crowds and it seemed to rain quite a bit. We've also done September and the crowds are down and the weather is perfect! If not for kids and a strict school attendance policy, we would always plan to visit in the 'off' season.

Lots of people rave about AKL but personally I didn't think much of it and it's too darn far from the parks (except AK which we don't plan to return to). With less days, I'd probably pick a hotel on the monorail line.

Just my .02; take it or leave it.

:D

It's 5 more than what I'm going for right now, so yes, i would do it.

YES!! Go!!!!! It will be worth it. You will want to back very soon though! Do your favorite things or make a must do list and try to do that.... It is fun not to do everything in one trip because then you can try something new on the next trip. Honestly I usually only go for a few days at a time and don't always go to a park. It is different for me though because I am not very far away from WDW. I also get tired of eating out so much. I think it is a great idea and you will have so much fun... You will just have to plan another trip soon!!! :Pinkbounc

Hey, there is no need to move fast. The first time DH and I went to Disney we only did 3 days at the parks and one at Universal. We did the MK twice and EPCOT on our anniversary day. There was plenty we didn't see and we were okay with that. It just gave us more to see on our 10 year celebration in which we were there for 9 days and 8 nights.
So don't move fast, why see Disney commando style....it's not going anywhere! (despite what Michael Eisner trys to do  ) Just take your time and enjoy.

:sunny:  :teeth:

DH and I are doing 5 days 4 nights the last week of January. It'll just be the two of us so I think its enough time. 1 park a day. Downtown Disney at night after parks close. Not sure what we are doing our last day yet, our plane leaves at 6:05. It will be so much easier without DS4 and DS2. I can't wait.
