Is GF worth twice as much?

Well, I know where your coming from (we're sucking it up and spending 2 weeks at the Poly for our 20th annv.) BUT...we have saved for it. I would never, EVER charge something on my cc that I would not be able to pay off at the end of the month.

That said, if you really want to go this year, how about applying for a Disney Visa? Don't they give you the option of paying for your Disney vacation in 6 mos. interest free?

Thanks, everyone for all your replies and wonderful advice!!! You have given me a lot to think about. I will probably end up doing the "right thing" and sticking with the value resort. But someday...................

I definately wouldn't stay there if I had to pay for it with credit. Let's calculate how expensive that makes the room. :surfweb: It's just bad business. However, if you want an upgrade, then look at resorts that you can pay for without using credit. Maybe you should look at some of the moderate resorts or a less expensive deluxe resort.

As a previous poster said, if your daughter is 15, then college is near, and yes, you will have to pay for it, but it also means she will be LEAVING!!! I say DO IT. If this was just a whim, I would seriously think twice, but if this has been a mother/daughter dream for a while, then work a little extra when you get back, budget well and pay it off. I have NEVER regretted any of the memories I have made with either my mother or my daughter in regareds to travel/experiences, etc., even if I've have to use my "card". Life takes visa, sis.

First, don't worry that your daughter will "outgrow" Disney - all of us grown ups on this board sure haven't. :lmao:

I believe you would most likely regret having to spend months paying off the expense of a 5 day vacation upgrade. If money were no object, I'd say go for it, but I think you'll have a better time during your vacation without having to think, did I make the right "financial" decision... :confused3

I agree with the other posters who believe you would be better served by saving up for and spending your "25th" at the GF. :wizard:

Just my 2 cents...

My sentiments exactly! Use some of the money you are saving to take the girls to Afternoon Tea at the GF. There are many extras that are very special and wouldn't cost near the money. Disney tours, specialty cruise, etc.

I definantly agree with the OP's, I don't feel you and your daughter will spend enough time at the resort to warrant that kind of cost. Never stayed at GF, it's beautiful, but seems a bit snobbish to me, IMO. I'm a country girl and love the mod. resorts for the price and atmosphere. If we upgrade it will be to the AKL or WL for the price. (Hubby wants to stay at the Poly in a couple of years for our 30th anniv.....and I'm even trying to talk him out of that idea because of the expense.) By staying at the mod. resort, maybe I can swing an extra trip next year???:confused3

The GF is our favorite resort. We absolutely love it. We always stay deluxe. Having said that I would never pay that much per night especially on a cc. Save the GF for another trip when you can stay there for half that price. We often find discounts. Our trip in December is costing us $225/night at the GF.
