Is GF Main Building All Conceirge?

We have booked two days in a Lodge Tower room in the Main Building at GF. We were told we could expect a marina or lagoon view. Does anyone know what we can expect? The CM on the phone wasn't exactly clear if we would have access to the conceirge lounge or not. We're certainly paying more than what we did for BC conceirge.

Thanks!

Usually when the word "Lodge" is used in conjunction with the GF, it means the resort's other buildings, not its Main Building.

If you click here, you will see the GF room rates for 2005. Compare what you were quoted with what is listed on this webpage (these rates are non-discounted and do not include tax).

If you click here, you will find out information about the Grand Floridian's rooms, including its concierge rooms and what access they have to the lounges.

If you have booked a concierge room in the Main Building, you will have access to its lounge. All rooms in the Main Building are concierge rooms.

If you have booked a concierge room in the Sugar Loaf Lodge Building, you will have access to its concierge lounge. All rooms in the Sugar Loaf Lodge Building are concierge rooms.

If you have booked a suite, it could be located in any of the GF's buildings. Currently, suites have access to the concierge lounges (that has not always been the case in the past and I am speaking from experience here).

I hope you have a lovely stay at the Grand Floridian. It has become my favorite resort again.

Anim8ed, I should have mentioned that I just love your Dis name. Very nice! :earsgirl:

Every room in the main building has concierge access and services. However, I would call back and double check your room classification because "lodge tower rooms" are not in the main building. They are in the outer buildings and do not come with concierge services. If your room is in the main building it should be called one of the following:

Deluxe Concierge Rooms: maximum 5 Guests
Concierge from $585‡
Concierge Deluxe from $595‡
Concierge Honeymoon from $595‡
Suites: maximum 2-8 Guests
One Bedroom from $985‡
Two Bedroom from $1490‡
Presidential from $1775‡

These rooms are the only type you'll find in the main building. Janet gave you a good rule of thumb. If the word "lodge" appears anywhere on your reservation then you are not in the main building.

Thanks for pointing out the cute name Janet2K-it slipped right past me. We are taking all of your advice and doing the GF and AKL concierge for 2 days each this summer. I spent the last few days with my son who is home for a few more days from college going through all your beautiful dinners and pictures.. He enjoyed it so much that he wants you to adopt him. I thought you would enjoy that!! :earboy2:

Wow! Thanks for all the great info! I'm glad you like the name -- kudos for being the first to get it, Janet2K!

Anyway, I called Disney after getting my paperwork in the mail yesterday. I got a wonderful CM named Liza to help me out. She even went so far as to call the GF herself while I was on hold. Sure enough, we weren't booked in the main building.

Liza helped us find a room in a Deluxe that qualified for the AP rate, after we just decided to get AP's. So, now we are staying at the Poly in a lagoon view room for 70% of the cost of our original ressies!

I'm so glad you Dis'ers came through with the info! We would have been bummed to have paid all that money (which we justified by saying "we're in the main building"), only to find out we weren't getting what we thought we were.

Thanks again!

I'm happy that I actually "got" your fun Dis name (usually I am the last one to do so).

I'm also happy that we were able to help you out with your room category. I haven't stayed at the Poly yet, but lots of folks here on the boards have and they seem to just love it over there. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful vacation.

Believe me, you aren't the first person to think lodge tower rooms are in the main building... it's all very confusing. ;) You will love the Poly!!! Have a great time!!!! :D
