Is Garden View worth $75

We have a Garden view room booked at HRH. If we changed to a standard room, it would save $75 over the five nights. We have only stayed at Royal Pacific before. For those that have stayed at HRH, is the Garden view worth $75 or better spent on something else?

That's a personal decision. I never pay more for views because it does not matter to me. I have stayed at all 3 EP resorts. On the other hand, $15 a night is not that much if you like to look out your window and see green.

How much do you care about your view? Do you care $15 worth per day? Serious question, because some people enjoy chilling in their rooms and looking out at something pretty. Others are gone too much of the day to care. Still others care, but not enough to pay. How much is $75 in the scheme of your vacation budget? If you're taking a trip for 5K, then $75 seems like a small amount to add for a nice view that can bring you pleasure. If you're on a strict budget, and there's something else you'd like to do with $75, what are you sacrificing for that nice view?

IMO.......absolutely not.

We have stayed many times and booking a standard we have had a range of views from pool to the courtyard towards the boat dock, and looking towards the parks on various floors.

I started getting the feeling a standard was a lottery room, you might just get lucky.....

Nowadays we have certain rooms we like and book a specific category for that reason.

Agree with ClapYourHands.....

It depends how much it matters to you.

For $75 it would be a no brainer to me.....I like a nice view though.

I`d hate to be stuck with a room looking out to the bottom of trees or large plants. Someone has to get those rooms.

Unfortunately those rooms are also what you get with a garden view, trees, shrubs, large plants sometimes right by your window and sometimes away.

So then what do you get with a standard view at UO? How many of the rooms at the Deluxe hotels have parking lot views or other undesirable views? Like, if you don’t book a particular room type, is your view likely to be bad or just bland?

I’ve never had a view I couldn’t live with at HR, I think standard is just that it will be a 375 sqft room with an unspecified view, you could be on a lower floor or higher floor, I would agree with the bland statement vs being bad, fwiw I love a great view but for $75 I don’t think that’s the best, typically it’s a smaller fee like $10-$20, $75 seems like it should be for a pool view.

Some rooms just have poor views.

At RP there are many rooms on the lower levels that have no view, just the bases of trees.

We`ve always had a high floor with lovely views, it`s quite important to us as we stay for such a long time. And I will always encourage folks to put a high floor in their reservation as a request. It`s worth asking for.

Thanks. I can live with bland. $75 is for the whole 5 nights, so it’s only $15 per night, which seems reasonable. Personally, I’m not a fan of pool views because I don’t care for the extra noise, so I’d rather a garden or standard view.

For me, sometimes a good view makes the trip, and sometimes it’s just a nice but unimportant bonus. Having a balcony that faced the ocean in Hawaii was absolutely magical. It was the first trip where I can honestly say I dream of that hotel room, and would love to go back someday. For most theme park visits, I just want a quiet room where I can crash after exhausting myself in the parks each day. A nice view would be nice, but I’d rather buy a few Butterbeers.

Oh well that changes things a bit, I thought it was $75 per night, totally missed that (not sure how) lol, which I was like “no way” lol, that’s not bad at all then really, request a higher floor and OP should be ok.

That sounds idylic in Hawaii....

Yes, pool views can be quite noisy. We always have a pool view in RP and a lagoon view in Sapphire, I like both at each hotel. RP pool noise never bothers us, and if we want a nap in the afternoon, we can both drop off like exhausted babies!

Again, it`s down to what you feel best for you.

Hope you find what you want and have a fabulous trip!

OP......sorry I had misread your post, having stayed often $75 for 5 nights isn’t a big loss, try requesting a higher floor I believe you should be good, sorry for any confusion.

Hard Rock Hotel has very few rooms with balconies. Because HRH is not a place where we spend a lot of time in the room, enjoying the views, the additional money would not be worth it to me no matter how negligible it might be.

We've stayed at HRH three times, and booked a standard each time. Every time we have been on the first floor with windows looking out at the pool. I would imagine there is a limited number of parking lot views, with the parking lot being on the side of the resort. If you look at the aerial view of google maps, you'll see the parking lot on the left, and two wings of the hotel which have sides that would look out at the parking lot. I know those wings house the restaurants and convention/meeting spaces, so I'm not sure how many rooms on floors above those there are, but its just a small portion of the resort.

Thanks for all the feedback - I have decided to pocket the cash and downgrade to a standard room and ask nicely at check-in for a higher floor. It is my son's birthday / high school graduation trip so maybe we will get luckily.

Aside from that...researching AP rates and annual pass prices....we decided to cancel the package we booked through Universal and book with a Passholder rate and purchase the seasonal annual passes. We moved to the standard room to a garden room and four seasonal passes with an estimated savings to be about $360 in total.

When I called the vacation package line to cancel...they told me they have a new annual pass vacation acquisition package. They were able to convert my vacation package of hotel and 4 day 3 park passes to the annual passholder rate and 4 seasonal passes with the 15-month length plus give me a $75 discount for purchasing a 3 park pass. So my total savings for my same trip went to $436!!!!

And now we can go on our check-in and check-out dates since we have the annual pass vs. just our four full days. I am likely going to try and upgrade one seasonal to a preferred pass when we pick them up.

Crazy that becoming a seasonal passholder is pocketing us $436! Just thought I would share!

Awesome!

Getting at least 1 preferred pass is great as most restaurants and stores offer a discount of usually 10%.....so even more savings!!!

Happy Birthday for your son, and a Grad too, we have a 2020 Grad here as well!!! Be sure to tell them that at check in!!!

I feel like it wouldn't be worth the cost unless you are planning on spending a lot of time in the room. Plus sometimes you get an upgrade without the extra cost!

Yes - I did not want to confuse them on the phone so thought when we get there I would try and upgrade one pass to a preferred pass for the discounts!

Thank you! It's been quite a year for these seniors. We were supposed to be onsite at Disney for two weeks with free dining and they don't open until the day we were scheduled to check out. Ugh! So this came together pretty quickly in the last month. Now I have $3,500 refunded in Disney gift cards as we use those as partial payment for our trip. May run over to Disney Springs for meals a few times. We had not budgeted for food other than tips because of the free dining we had!

That was my thinking. With the hotel probably at a fraction of capacity and maybe mentioning we are there due to a canceled Disney trip and son's birthday / high school graduation trip we may get a room with a nicer view :) But totally fine if we don't. Since no balcony - I don't think it matters as much. We are heading down to Cocoa Beach for a few days after and made she we had an oceanfront view - now that I will pay for!
