I read this over on the resorts board. It was posted by someone who is at POP right now. I'm doing a c/p here, since so many people may find this worthwhile:

At the mouse right now. Earlier this week we had to pay for an internet connection, even asked the front desk and they said they didn't have it yet... but late last night, we realized that we can now go on wireless :thumbsup2

Someone on that thread mentions that Disney had pulled permits about two weeks ago to enhance their wireless system. This might be why!

I'm only speculating, but I think that this is in preparation for their NexGen enhanced system that is coming online later this year. People are going to want to be able to make their Xpass reservations and take advantage of other features of the program once they are at Disney. They won't be able to do it without internet access. If people can't use NexGen to it's fullest, they aren't going to pay extra for it. And I'm sure that Disney is going to want to sell people on it after their arrival if they didn't buy into it ahead of time.
