IS FREE DINING IS ALREADY FULL?

IM UNABLE TO GET A MODERATE RESORT. ONLY RESORT WITH ROOMS IS POP CENTURY. DOES DISNEY EVERY ADD MORE ROOM'S TO THE FD OFFER? IT'S BAD ENOUGH WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PARK HOPPER!

I can say yes, I could not find a room when I tried to book. Then after a few days I got a room at POR. Then I got a prefered room, a week later a garden view room came up, and that is how it has been off and on since the Begining of May. When looking CBR had no rooms, then they had rooms, at one point last week they had standard rooms, now they don't. Last weekend a standard came available at BC and we jumped on it giving up our room at POR. So yes they do come available, if you are a little flexible with dates, try the day before or the day after, that seems to open rooms up also.

FD is limited. They may add more, or people will cancel and change their resort opening things up. It's going to be slim pickings this far after release.

Please just keep checking. I booked FD when it opened and "had' to choose CSR. I patiently checked the site every few days and about 2 weeks later was able to switch to our first choice, CBR. As mentioned, other people will cancel as the dates get closer.

We are staying 12/21-12/28. If there were to be a room discount it would at most take 30% off of 12/21 and the rest would be rack rate. This would save me $100. Free Dining is saving us $1680. Be persistent.

Is Free Dining worth it? Yes. For us.

Every moderate resort other than POFQ (which was never included in this FD promotion) has FD available the week that my family is going...end of September.

Keep checking... I booked my reservations way back in January before any free dining was released. I booked knowing that my resort may not be included but it would be a nice bonus if it was.

Well turns out my resort was included (for my dates) but I was told there was no availability when I called... basically all the rooms allotted for free dining were already taken. I was so mad I almost canceled! But Dis Board members encouraged me to stay put and keep checking and low and behold more rooms were released! We got free dining... just be persistent and check every day (maybe even twice a day in the AM and PM)

A sign the economy( at least for Disney) is getting better. Disney like every other company does discounts to sell their product/inventory. Based on what they have said about hotel occupancy rates it isn't surprising the free dining and other discounts are less.

The type of room that I wanted was unavailable, but I went ahead and booked the resort we wanted. I hope to change the room type before our trip, but I'm not holding my breath.

Maybe for the dates you need it is booked. For my dates right now there are rooms available at moderates. Are you able to change dates at all? Aug 30-Sept 5 has availability.

Same here, had to book CSR when FD first came out. Stalked and finally got water view at CBR, and just yesterday finally got standard view. So keep checking. But OP, you are over a month since FD was announced.......

I just made a big change to my reservation this morning. I tormented the reservationist's soul and managed to find a moderate for 3 more days for less money! I am soooo excited. I went back and forth from first possible check in date on every resort until I hit the mark. Keep trying!

I just found a standard room at CBR for Dec 15-21 available with free dining. That was the original date we were going but couldn't find anything when FD first came out. Looks like maybe folks are cancelling? Kind of wishing I hadn't bought MVMCP tix for our new dates as I would prefer going in December. Oh well.

The mods were almost booked up for our time frame (10/31 to 11/8) even before free dining was release so depends then the OP is going too.

Keep in mind, OP, that Disney really has only two things to consider with free dining....

1. Do we need to offer it in order to fill our resorts? If the resort will fill without offering FD, there would be no reason whatsoever to offer it.
2. How many people booked rooms at our resorts during traditional FD windows specifically expecting us to give them free dining who will then CANCEL if we don't offer it? If the answer is "a lot," then they will generally offer FD. However, again, if they think those numbers are negligible and that they can rebook the rooms after people cancel reservations, then it makes smart business sense NOT to offer it.

Obviously Disney would rather never offer any discounts at all, be them room only or FD.
